  1. Meanwhile, I can only stream Common Side Effects on Max, as opposed to watching it on-demand through Xfinity. To me, streaming services still feel like a racket, but I guess I'm gonna have to start putting up with them.
  2. The fact that this block is going to be promoting a Web3 (re: metaverse, NFTs, etc.) business makes me feel icky, but hey: it's anime on cable TV, so I'm gonna try to watch this. And the last time I made a point of watching AXS was when they were airing a Yes concert, which was a long time ago.
  3. [the sun comes up and i'm all washed out / is this what—]
  4. Oh dear. Jesus. Not to sound alarmist, but not going into Mashle S2 feels like "we're sunsetting the block" territory. Here's hoping this is just a budgetary issue, because who knows what they have left at this point.
  5. Finished Regular Show S2 today. Now I either rely on CN reruns, or get the complete series box set, which sadly is only available on DVD. [or maybe i go for a max subscription? is this one even on there?]
  6. F. So if DeMarco ever has the urge to make more FLCL, what's he gonna do now?
  7. The first episode aired as a post-Super Bowl preview, like how Family Guy premiered. Cool thread. And in a cool coincidence, Minto referenced an episode of this last night.
  8. ReStage! Dream Days 7 Uzumaki 3/4 Well, I did it: I finally got the Spiral Curse off of my DVR. Some pointers: They really should've made this a normal 12-episode anime. Not sure if it would've helped with production, but it at least would've fixed the pacing, which is breakneck and has parts where it sounds like the actors are rushing through their lines. Episode 1 may be the most competent from a production standpoint, but my favorite is Episode 3, as it had some scenes that legit creeped me out. The production values aren't as bad as the second episode, too. Divorced from the source material, I'd give this series a 3/5 for being very flawed but very interesting. But as an adaptation, it's probably a failure. At least this time an attempt to make Ito work in animation wasn't foiled by the oafishness of the studio.
  9. Touhou Musou Kakyou: A Summer Day's Dream 4 (end) And I ended up breaking the resolution the day I posted about it: I was gonna watch Robot Carnival for 3/52, then got to the BD main menu... and wasn't feeling it. Oh well. I should still go through with the project even if I'm tardy with at least one movie, but I've got other, more personally-important things to take care of first. [give me weaker fairies or i retire]
  10. Hundreds of Beavers - 4.5/5 I guess? That's what Anthony rated it. By the way, this is part of a project that came from a belated New Year's resolution: I have not watched enough movies in my life, so I want to watch at least one new movie every week for a whole year. This is Part 2 of 52 of that. Hopefully you all aren't too familiar with the hype for this movie, which I was exposed to through a jam band forum. I went in having seen no footage but with a vague idea of how the movie would go... and yet it still floored me. Brilliant comedy, unapologetic in its indie roots, and if you're interested I highly recommend the official YouTube upload of it, which is free and even lacks ads if you have Premium.
  11. ReStage! Dream Days 6 Touhou Musou Kakyou: A Summer Day's Dream 3
  12. Hey, that ain't a bad thing. If I wasn't on Zoloft, I might've drank to forget it. Here's something interesting I wanted to put here, because where else could it go: This game was recently featured at AGDQ... during the Awful Block. God, could whoever's writing this stuff lay off the super-thick metaphors?
  13. Definitely agree that the mid-2010s was the peak for modern Toonami, though it looks likes I started falling off a little quicker than the rest of you. At least I still record stuff and have an army of shows on the DVR ready to go... whenever. Too bad I haven't even finished Uzumaki yet, as if I even want to.
  14. Figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to pimp the mangaka's next series. It's revisiting the roots a bit with a fish-out-of-water premise, and the MC has already gotten a some fan art on Twitter that Anbe himself has retweeted. I'm tempted to go whole hog and buy the first volume, which is due out in June, but I might as well pony up for the first scanalated chapters first.
  15. Well, not on the TV, and I have a Phish jam going instead of sound, but I wanted to post this here too. Think I'll continue with The History of the Atlanta Falcons tonight. The next episode up is the one focusing on Deion Sanders.
