Last Period #2 PUCHiM@S! S2E1 Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious #1

It could've been clickbait, but he diffused it at the end. At least that's noble.

Christmas is a feel-good holiday by its very nature, so it makes sense that people want to be exposed to it as much as possible. Look at how they keep starting the holiday season earlier and earlier seemingly every year. Heck, I'm surprised Hallmark doesn't have a channel that plays Christmas movies 24/7!

To start off, I agree that we should merge [as] and Toonami into one folder. I'd love to see more discussion on the comedy shows. As for the rest... wow, there's some really good discussion going on in here. I like the idea of bringing back the general Toonami threads and making a single one (not weekly) for each show. On top of cutting down on folder clutter, it would be much more convenient to discuss a show in its entirety. There are often particular things I want to say about an episode that I missed and are just catching up on after a few weeks, so not having to go back to that particular thread and bump it to get my thoughts out is easier on the folder. Of course, this assumes I'm actually actively discussing things, but I'll get to it soon...

The Demon Girl Next Door #12 (end) Last Period -the journey to the end of despair- #1 Trinity Blood #1 Machikado was great, and I'm glad people have started seeing at it as a hidden gem. Also, it was cool to see a show that aired on [asa] as part of the club.

At this point, I don't know what I can say about the ratings that isn't beating a dead horse. It was fun in the earlier years when Toonami had to rate well while having a much larger variety of shows to choose from, not to mention a schedule with more moving parts. But now things have shrunk to the point where we have a pretty good idea of what is going to replace what else, and where the shows are placed barely matters, on top of other things that are inherently impossible to predict like world premieres. It was fun in the early years when we could armchair quarterback and get away with it, but now this topic has become a thinly-veiled excuse to complain, because there's rarely anything to get excited about. It's all become rather frustrating. 🤔

And I'm someone who thought DBS reruns could work just on name recognition, but I guess it's nice to be proven wrong. Regarding the post on cable TV, I have a feeling we'll see some growth in it over the next few years as people get overwhelmed by the massive amount of streaming services and paying for all of them turns out to be more expensive than just getting cable, but you never know. Personally, I'm happy my family continues to foot the bill and I get access to a reasonable selection of stuff that I can DVR and watch whenever.

Well, that's... oof. I know it's too early to tell if anything is tanking after one week, but DB Super reruns aren't helping their case. Here's hoping they only last for three more weeks. On the plus side, it looks like the middle isn't going to be so bad, and OPM S2 actually beat gen:LOCK's total viewer average (415K). Where we stand, it looks like the block has fallen so far that even the front taking a massive blow won't dent the rest much.

The Demon Girl Next Door #10 PUCHiM@S! S1E21-23 and OVAs Pandora Hearts #1 It's that time of year again. And I liked that while the anime club chose an older series, it looked pretty cool and was able to sustain my interest. 😗

It's never really felt like Boruto earned its place on the block. It came at a time when Toonami was more concerned with future-proofing, wanted any long-running shonen they could get, and then Viz gave this one to them probably for a good price. I also remember hearing there was no reaction whatsoever at the live Pre-Flight panel they announced it at, which is hilariously damning. They could bring it back once they can't air JoJo's anymore, or if Food Wars! is starting to run out of episodes, but with the middling ratings it's gotten and the full-throated apathy Toonami fandom has given to it, it will probably be dead weight no matter the circumstance. And is that a shame? If you like Naruto, maybe.

Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
Blatch replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I wouldn't go that far, as there's a lot more people who like this one than DW. It's got a great art style and some episodes with really fluid animation, and the more recent episodes have apparently been a step up by those who have seen them. And even though it has some misogynistic themes, they're more due to aloofness on the writer's part than the feelings of someone who hates women. I've also heard from people who read the manga saying the series gets a lot better with time, so if you want to like this one, I think you should. It might get you some street cred down the line. 😌 I watched the last episode of DBS on yesterday's block just to send it off, along with my usual choices of Dr. Stone and Food Wars!. All in all, a good night. I'll have to bust out a hideously long essay talking about these shows (and gen:LOCK) at some point. -
DBS Reruns start off the block on 10/12
Blatch replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well, we have a new development on this: This is presumably only for the last four episodes... and MHA's rerun also has that many remaining. I think you can put two and two together. -

Jojo Golden Wind premieres October 26th! (Bye bye Boruto?!)
Blatch replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
0% surprising, but I still like it. A shame I haven't watched all of Part 4 by now, though. Oh, and as for Boruto, here is the explanation from le No Budget Anime Man: [based?]
