  1. That would require me having a full-time stable job currently, which I do not... though I am probably close to getting one within the next year thank god. If it is a job that is actually doing what I want. I don't think I would quit it for any amount of money to be honest, as I enjoy what I want to be doing for a living.
  2. Impersonating officers of the military is a crime, I hope you realize... that is where the whole "stolen valor" term comes from in the first place.
  3. AnimationFan14[/member] If it's ok with Ben to view on Sunday night then I'll make a catch-up night for you and anyone else if we have any others that want to join. Of course, anyone that wants to also rewatch could still join. I'll post more about it when it gets closer to 8 pm central.
  4. Is hands down Ancient Magus Bride. If you've not seen this show I highly recommend it, although it is very strange in some ways so far.
  5. Certain shows have a pacing that is designed to bing watch intentionally I'd argue House of Cards is a prime example of this type of set up. There are some shows that come out of cable that is suited to it as well, but many that aren't as their pacing is more deliberate with significant use of cliffhangers and other plot elements which do best with periods of pause in between such as foreshadowing. I would also argue that shows which are both long-running (talking more than 5 seasons) and are also finished tend to do better with binge-watching. Shows like Lost or Dexter for example, or if talking about anime One Piece, Fairy Tail, Naruto, Bleach.... Naruto and Bleach, in particular, are somewhat more palatable as you can speed through the really terrible pacing, constant use of filler, or mostly inconsequential flashback episodes. One Piece is so long and old that it benefits from binge-watching even in small spurts such as 4 to 10 episodes at a time, not necessarily because the pacing is bad but because it is so long that it is hard to keep track of even for seasoned viewers. I would also argue that shows which are least conducive to binge-watching are episodic in nature with either many different sub-plots interspersed or completely different subject matter for most episodes. As an example, most of Star Trek is pretty much terrible to "Binge-Watch" (I am a die-hard Trekkie and I've tried to rewatch some of these by binging). Shows like this which are mostly episodic in nature are hard to sit through for extended periods of time because the plot is not designed as a long cohesive narrative but more like an adventure set in a setting exploring related topics. Dr. Who would probably be another good example of this type, although I am a fan of that show as well.
  6. It was reportedly coined by Netflix themselves in promotions, so probably a middle-aged executive who thought it was catchy in conjunction with a focus group... Most cinematic terminology these days comes from companies, or film critics in actuality (some of them are pretty cringy).
  7. It's worthy of binge-watching. It has a good plot though many of the elements are common to anime/manga it does them very well if not better than a lot of it's contemporaries in the same genre of fantasy/magic. The characters are all unique and interesting, having well-developed personalities with not too many cliches thrown in (though there are a few). The characters all have unique designs for the most part (the main ones do) and most of them are pretty cute, both female and male. I'm really not sure why more people here don't mention: Elizabeth as their waifu: Or if they are in to a more dominant acting female.... There is Merlin: Not to mention the show apparently has some of the most beautiful cosplayers I've ever seen (out of people that typically cosplay and nb4 I get yelled at).....
  8. mochi[/member] Well, I need more responses first. I'd really like to give AnimationFan14[/member] a chance to catch up anyways since I think we can all agree last weeks episodes were not only amazing but also pretty crucial to the storyline Have not heard from him though. I'll try on Discord. If you manage to get his attention ask him about it. I'm not sure if CorbeauKarasu[/member] is still interested in joining but this would be a good chance for him to catch up tonight. And I haven't heard from ben0119[/member] yet, whether or not Sunday night would be ok for this week. If not and worse comes to worse we could push it to an early slot in one of the weekdays next week like Tuesday or Wednesday.
  9. Because in Konoha apparently, part of their rich traditional culture is laughing at and traumatizing poor orphan boys (or you know just a really bad plot element).
  10. Dragonball universe approves of CBT confirmed? ?
  11. ben0119[/member] CorbeauKarasu[/member] Also, I'm thinking that I may postpone tomorrow's showing to Sunday if everyone can make that night instead? Are there any difficulties that would arise for people? I know mochi[/member] said he could not join tomorrow among others. AnimationFan14[/member] if you are willing and able I could show the episodes from last week tomorrow night for you and anyone else that might want to join or catch up and then the next four on Sunday evening (presumably same time period 8 to 10 unless you guys would want it sooner). Let me know what everyone thinks!
  12. This is true, the famous ones being the gender swap portrayals. Oda takes requests from fans and uses them to make cover art.
  13. This last one is also a good point lol. There are a ton of people with facial scars. And smoker is most definitely straight as per the manga. Oda does not goe out of his way to generally mention a character's sexuality unless it contributes to their personality, the story, or makes sense in context. So many characters could be said to be "unconfirmed" while many others have definitely confirmed romantic or sexual attractions to one sex or the other. Curiously I don't think there are any characters that have been shown as liking both though...
  14. I had forgotten about him, but I have seen so much of the show it's not surprising as it is hard to keep track of hundreds of volumes of manga and nearly 1000 episodes of anime at this point. He is indeed beautiful as far as Okama go. Also, part of what makes the Okama such great characters is that they don't particularly care what other people think about them. It is what makes them a strong representation of lgbt characters in anime, imo, though some might disagree. mochi[/member] Your theory about the facial scars being symbolism is rather interesting, I would have never made that connection and I can definitely see the similarity. It's a bit wild, and I doubt it will ever be confirmed but it's a fun theory. In regards to Crocodile, that is one of the great mysteries of One Piece plot dangled out by Oda but not yet explained (even to current manga arc). Oda does things like this as a routine with revealing hints or smaller details about things sometimes years in advance of actually explaining it. Some of the most popular theories of what Crocodile's secret that Ivankov knows about are:
  15. LoL.... No. Here is a list of characters who have shown romantic and/or sexual attractions over the course of the show: Some spoilers below as I have included short descriptions of characters which are introduced later in the anime or manga.... open tags at your own risk... Boa Handcock: Doflamingo: Kyrus: Sanji: Self-explanatory Chopper: Nami: Usopp: Most of the Minks: Brook: Bartolomeo (not to be confused with the Warlord Kuma): Most of the Okamas and especially Ivankov: Kuala: Violet: Momo: Big Maam and most of the Big Maam pirates: Begie: Baby 5: ....... And many more which I don't have the patience to list or describe right now. I could fill at least 3 pages with the number of people who express sexual or romantic attractions/flirtations/commentary in One Piece. It is definitely common enough to make Luffy an oddball in terms of his direct aversion to sexual or romantic behaviour. Also: mochi[/member] the guy from the manga you really should put that one in spoilers at least! He's brand new to the current manga arc.... people watching the sub and not reading manga haven't even seen him yet.
  16. Ok, set up completed. We will be starting the show shortly. Starting on episode 394!
  17. mochi[/member] AnimationFan14[/member] ben0119[/member] CorbeauKarasu[/member] Setting up the Rabb.it room now! Will be starting in about 10ish minutes. Come join if you can or want to hang and watch One Piece! https://lets.rabb.it/886j/SGMICKGBfH Direct link for tonight above or join through my profile link! ☠️
  18. Considering I pay as a premium member for their service, I was pretty disappointed in their failure to handle server load during peak hours, even if it was on a "special" event night.
  19. The Super episode he referred to was that, though a bit unclear.
  20. I have watched the first two episodes... it seems Asta has always had the disfavorable disposition of yelling at the top of his lungs for no reason. I could understand if he was yelling or excited in combat, but he yells out of place over mundane shit that no one actually cares about. I dunno if this is just a problem with the VA's portrayal of him thus far or if it is based on his Manga personality. Either way, I personally find it irritating and the prime example of one of the worst shounen cliches, overly enthused, erratic, and screaming protagonist. I hope that he becomes more likable at some point soon because I'd like to watch it but if this is gonna be his demeanor for the entire series I will probably drop it. I've met my quota on shounen anime with "scream for no reason" protagonists...
  21. I will post a short recap here in spoiler tags, before airing for those just joining (unless someone wants to do it for me ). Thanks, guys and check back later and join in! EDIT: check the last post on the previous page for info on tonight's show (10/14/2017). Thanks.
  22. CorbeauKarasu[/member] Now is the perfect time to join as we are just starting out the new main arc. I will probably be doing a recap day for those still joining at some point where I play most or all of the relevant missed episodes (we have covered 7 so far, mostly because last week only got through 1 do to Funimation's site going down for emergency maintenance). mochi[/member] AnimationFan14[/member] ben0119[/member] We are on for tonight, unless there is a further notice of a delay or postponement. Check back here slightly before 8pm central 9 pm eastern to see if there are any updates. For those that have not bookmarked it my rabb.it profile is: https://www.rabb.it/OuroborosBlack I strongly recommend actually making a free account in order to not have issues with the chat. Some users have experienced an inability to chat without being signed in, while others have not! Sign up a free account before tonight's show just to make sure! As per usual, I will be in the room setting things up about 5 to 10 minutes before the broadcast. Episodes we will be airing tonight will be 394 to 397 and 398 if there is enough time left before Toonami broadcast. I generally let the first intro and recap play and then skip any further openings/recaps to save on time. Looking forward to the fun, come hang out with us!
  23. Ok boyos, and girlos. I am off to prepare myself for this.... probably won't be back for a few days, I'm going to be fairly busy for the most of the week. Cyaaaa ?❤️?????
  24. Speedstick is one of those deodorants that makes people hate wearing deodorant.
