I've seen this happen several times and it's been a legal shot every time. The ref tells you in the rules meeting before the fight that only he/she or the bell can stop the fight. Even when a towel's been thrown the ref has to stop it (he can decide to let it continue). If you feel you've had enough, take a knee or wave it off and let the ref recognize the bout's end...

fame must be nice....as long as you get into that sweet spot where you aren't too famous and people won't let you walk down a street without a body guard, but you're just famous enough where people, even normally grumpy ones, are nice to you and give you things :
