  1. https://www.bls.gov/news.release/ppi.nr0.htm PPI is accelerating showing that inflation is nowhere near peaked and is only picking up steam. Inflation, and the economy, are the #1 issue this fall. Nothing else will come close to being as important as the economy.
  2. It absolutely matters. Electorally it dooms Trumps chances of ever winning again. All that has to happen is a small, but meaningful, amount of GOP primary voters have to be turned off from Trump and support someone else. DeSantis is the likely not-Trump option for the GOP and is probably the strongest candidate in the GOP field. The primaries for 2024 are going to be "Has to be someone who can win", and that aint Trump. I know some people here who are still pretty MAGA but have been saying that Trump is too damaged at this point so they need to nominate someone else. Even if Trump somehow manages to win the nomination hes not winning the general election. These hearings are being distributed to a huge portion of the electorate, and they will absolutely be used in adds in 2024 against Trump. Beyond the election they absolutely matter for history. Its important that we record what happened so that we can hopefully learn from it and not have it happen again. History books absolutely need to contain the insurrection. Its up there with the British burning the White House in the war of 1812 in terms of importance. You just dont have people storming Congress every day. What happened absolutely must be taught in our nations history. What happened also has to be dissected so our security protocols can be updated. We have to learn how they were able to breach congress so easily so we can secure and fortify it. None of our elected officials should ever have to be in fear that a mob of insurrectionists could break into Congress and attack/kill them. Thats just not acceptable at all. I may not like all of their opinions, but they absolutely have the right to say them and their representation of the electorate is key to the foundations of Democracy. Once you erode that through threats of violence you go down an extremely dark path.
  3. The problem with this whole thing is that the MAGA crowd is basically saying "Who are you going to believe? Me, or your lying eyes?" Anyone who objectively looks at what happened, looks at the videos that are coming out, and actually reads the reports comes to the same conclusion. This was an insurrection where Trump threw napalm on a fire. The crowd brought a literal gallows to the insurrection and wanted to hang Mike Pence, The VP of the United States. Trump constantly flamed the fires by creating the Big Lie and undermining the entire foundation of our Democracy because hes a sore loser. Hes still doing it to this day even though it has been proven, multiple times, that he lost the election fair and square. If he didnt want to lose he should have been a better candidate.
  4. New job for a putin aid: Turd Burglar. https://www.businessinsider.com/putin-bodyguards-collect-his-poop-every-time-travels-abroad-report-2022-6 Apparently the FSB is collecting his crap whenever he travels so no one can collect it and examine it for signs of whatever is apparently killing him.
  5. It sure looked like they knew where they were going. They pretty clearly were cutting through the crowd with a location in mind. The video makes it pretty clear that they were organized and had a plan.
  6. Pretty disgusting video of what happened, including some new footage. I have no idea how the cops didnt start shooting. You look at what was going on and they pretty clearly had every right to start to shoot to defend the Capitol building. Its also pretty clear that there were people in the insurrection that had bigger plans than just trying to cause chaos. The stacks of proud boys moving through the crowd is very organized. That doesnt happen spontaneously, that was planned. It also is growing apparent that Pence is a hero and should be treated as such. Trump thoroughly abdicated his responsibilities and pushed the big lie. The military went to Pence to ask for approval to send in the military, and he gave it. Pence didnt buy into the lie, refused to follow it, refused to partake in it, and apparently led the country as acting President for weeks after Trump instigated the insurrection.
  7. For everything else going on, this is still going to be the #1 issue for voters this fall. Inflation is continuing, and its picking up speed.
  8. The January 6th committee gets stared with public hearings tonight. Is anyone going to watch it? Legitimate question, not fishing here. I dont know what sort of interest there is. Feels like we all sorta know what they will say and everyones opinions are already baked in at this point. I dont think theres going to be anything new or a bombshell. January 6th was an insurrection, and Trump made sure to stoke the flames.
  9. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/senate-bipartisan-group-eyes-deal-week-bill-prevent-future-coups-rcna32667 Bipartisan Senate group eyes deal 'this week' on bill to prevent future coups This was always the more important bill and action after the January 6th BS. Take away the ability to throw out the actual election results and that ends the chance of another Jan 6th attempt. This whole "alternate electors" bullshit needs to end as well. The people vote, you count the votes, thats how it goes. No adjusting, no finding, no alternate electors.
  10. No, but I think after the latest redistricting her district borders mine. No one can forget the cow. Didnt it have its own twitter handle for a while?
  11. I honestly dont even listen to her. Too much stupid stuff comes out of her mouth to track. not just her husband either. Her business past has some, lets just say, interesting tidbits in it.
  12. I think she has huffed too much lysol in her life. Its zapped her of the precious few brain cells she had. I cant make too many jokes though. bobo the clown is from my state......
  13. That's the secret everywhere for cold games. We do hot coco and schnapps when its super cold here. That's the only way to make it tolerable. That and layer after layer after layer of clothes. Feel like the Michelin man by the time you head into the stadium.
  14. Ha! Those people may be legitimately insane. I love those cold games, on TV, with me comfy on my couch in sweats and a blanket.
  15. Yea but thats emotional and mental suffering. Psychical suffering is different
  16. I generally agree. But I also have moments when Im sitting out there freezing my ass off really wishing it was a nice heated dome and 70 inside. If it was cold and snowing every game, totally OK with it. But cold and windy with no snow? Nowhere near as fun.
  17. And he decided not to charge huge swaths of criminals which led to them being back on the street committing repeated crimes. Hate crimes, including huge spike in attacks on Asians, increased as he continued to fail to prosecute these crimes. Smash and grabs are through the roof. There are countless videos online showing just how lawless SF has become. People are wiling to tolerate a lot, but they arent willing to tolerate the general lawlessness that has grown in the name of "justice reform". The only ones who supported him were the wealthy white progressives. Everyone else has been negatively impacted by his decisions, and the voted to kick his ass out. The same story is being repeated in other places where lawlessness has grown under the guise of progressive politics.
  18. When we have had new stadiums they are typically part of a special economic district. The city puts forward some money with a guaranteed revenue return in exchange. The stadium itself also gets a tax break to help lower the costs. Its worked well in the past. This new owner has enough money to build his own stadium however he wants it. Im not sure what will happen. Mile High is one of the oldest in the NFL now, which is crazy. We've done a lot of modernizing though so its still feels fairly new. But there's also a ton of talk about building a new stadium, possible a dome, somewhere in Denver.
  19. What it really shows is that people don't like it when their city turns into a lawless shit hole. GTA is fun to play as a video game, not as a real life experience. The same thing looks to be happening in LA. It sure looks like a tough on crime candidate is going to be the mayor there after the primary last night showed him with a substantial lead. Hes going up against a rising progressive start who also took a soft on crime approach that has led to an explosion of crime and lawlessness in LA.
  20. This was a big vote last night that had a lot of eyes on it. The Progressive DA had been under a pretty constant barrage of attacks because of his soft on crime stance. Now, hes out. The demographics this morning show that he lost among every single voting bloc except for rich progressive whites. Asians in particular delivered devastating results for him and voted overwhelmingly for the recall.
  21. Walmart now owns 3/4ths of the professional sports in town. Only one they dont own is the Rockies, and they are nothing more than a pure joke at this point. All 3 other teams are either true contenders (Avs), constant playoff appearances (Nuggs) or trending in the right direction (Broncos). I really wanted Peytons ownership group to win. I want him to be a part owner. There is word that all the ownership groups have reached out to him for potentially joining, so there is a chance that he could still be part of this deal. He absolutely should be involved in the running and ownership of the Broncos. For the owner itself, Im not sure. We now have the richest owner in the NFL by like $80 billion. So there absolutely is the potential to dump buckets of money into the team and our facilities. But he could also be a penny pinching bastard who turns is unto Washington 2.0. Kroenke (another wal-mart guy) dumped a couple billion into that insane new stadium in LA so that family does at least have a track record of putting some money where their mouth is. Hes no Mr. B. And until he proves that he is going to spend some of his ungodly pile of cash in Denver Im going to hold my opinion. I am cautiously optimistic only because of the legacy here in Denver. We wont accept a shit bag owner after we had Mr. B for so long.
  22. CNN gets it. The higher the gas prices and the higher inflation gets the worse Democrats will do this November. No other issue even comes close to touching the Economy as the issue this November.
  23. Yea, that the Economy largely sucks and Democrats are primarily to blame for that. We are seeing insane inflation and gas prices exploding. Biden could do a lot to alleviate both of these problems, but hes not. Instead hes doing the exact opposite of what needs to be done. And he, and his party, are going to rightfully be punished for that this November. Biden turning into Carter 2.0 is going to pave the way for DeSantis to likely win in 2024. Possibly with huge majorities in the House and Senate. For all their talk about keeping the GOP out of power Democrats sure are doing everything they possible can to make sure that the GOP wins in a big way this year.
