*Children of Men Intensifies* -
No kidding. Weve had months of foreplay, were all nice and warmed up, its time to get on with it already.

Honestly, that seems more like Y2K to me again. Some things you can rule out. They wont be pushing new code because, well, there may not be anyone left to actually do that. So you can probably rule out any sort of downstream effect from those cases. It also really matters on who has quit or been fired. The Payroll department and guy who codes the doors makes for some hilarious memes, but doesnt impact the bones of Twitter. You can always have a temp agency ready to go Monday morning to issue checks to people. It will be expense, but itll still happen. Some of the reports that have been coming out show an atrocious manager to engineer ratio. Some of the more insane ones have said there could be as many as 10 managers to 1 engineer. Thats insane. I dont totally buy it, but its also pretty common for companies to get bloat at that level. Again, im not saying that there arent going to be problems. But I think that everyone who is saying we will wake up and Twitter will simply be gone one day are just the new version of Y2K believers.

The way this is going islike its building to this amazing climax only to have the batteries die at the worst time leaving you there frustrated. Stop with the teasing, just get on with it already.

2022 Midterms: Oh god, not again

Well, Bobo the Clown somehow survived. This is an R+14 district so it never should have gotten this close. Just goes to show how bad of a candidate she is. -

I actually think that if Walker goes down in the runoff then that dooms Trumps chances. Theres already been a lot of movement away from Trump within the GOP. If one of his hand-chosen guys goes down right after he announced his own presidential campaign then the moniker of "LOSER!!!" will stick to him hard. At this point Trump is like your noisy Ex who you dumped because they are a total loser. They wont shut up though and keep sending you annoying texts trying to get back together. You just want them to go away, but they wont, so you wind up potentially having to get a restraining order. -

Coming into the election I said that Walker will win in a runoff. I think Im going to change that prediction. The main reason is Trump. With him announcing his candidacy it will help Warnock get out the vote. Trump is the single most radioactive politician in our nation, and its going to cost the GOP another race in Georgia. So Ill say that the end result in the Senate is a 51-49 Democratic majority. -

DDHQ is the first outfit to officially call it. They are pretty spot on with these things, being the first to call it for Biden as well. Now its just a question of how much of a majority does the GOP get, and how quickly does the infighting begin. Oh, wait, thats already started. -
So it does look like it was a Ukrainian rocket. But the NATO Secretary General is correct, Ukraine wouldnt have fired it if it wasnt for Russia. I think youll see Article 4 exercised and potentially some movement of NATO troops. This does probably reduce the odds of THAAD deployment or "shoot down" orders of Russian missiles. But our unwavering support of Ukraine must continue.
-
NATO ambassadors will meet on Wednesday to discuss next steps. They are taking their time and doing the correct due diligence before any sort of official response or action.
-
The more nefarious take is that they targeted that area on purpose. Either way, its an attack on a NATO member so a whole lot of things are now in motion.
-
If this is true then I would say the odds of this being a misfire are pretty low. Russia has been targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure for days trying to create all sorts of humanitarian crisis
-
People are saying this is the start of WWIII, but I dont see it. Even if Poland triggers Article 5, I dont think you see a full blown response from NATO by attacking Russia. Instead I think what happens is you see a massive increase in AA weaponry to Ukraine, deployment of THAAD all across Eastern Europe(this alone is a huge thorn in Russias side and they will bitch and moan very loudly), and possibly "shoot down" orders for any missile flying within a specified distance of NATO borders. Theres a whoooolllleeeee lot of options that we have that will make life very miserable for Russians that doesnt involve us shooting at them. Weve been giving Ukraine a lot of our spare weaponry that is pretty old. We can easily give them more advanced, and more modern, weaponry that will shred the Russian troops. Plus, we can give Ukraine higher-tier AA weaponry and long-range missiles that put a whole lot more or Russian troops into danger.
-
Thats possible, but I have to wonder how debris from a missile made it into Poland unless it was right on Polish airspace to begin with. NATO experts are going to be on scene soon, and they'll know quickly what happened.
-
I flipped on the major networks to see if they were covering this. And wow, they suck so much more than I remember. Out of the big 3 only 1 is actually talking about this story. CNN: Heres how horrible the GOP are! Their leadership hates you! FOX: Heres how horrible Democrats are! They dont care about the border! MSNBC: Heres this breaking news that has potentially massive significance in the world. Lets go to our experts on Poland, NATO, and foreign policy.
-
Russia is already out saying that not only did they not shoot this missile, but that they did not launch any missile near the Polish border. Thats completely false because we know already that Russia is targeting Ukrainian infrastructure very close to the border. Its going to be very clear, very soon, that the missile came from Russia and Russia is trying to pretend that it isnt.

WHELP. Thats fucking awesome.

I have a hard time believing they wont seat her before the Speaker election happens. She is still leading, and even though its a tight margin, I dont really see how she loses unless something truly remarkable happens. -

https://kdvr.com/news/politics/election/third-party-vote-split-district-8-other-races-in-colorado/ Interesting breakdown of local races where the 3rd party candidate impacted the outcome of the election. Ive seen some people online blaming the Libertarian candidates for why the GOP lost. To which I answer, dont nominate such shit candidates and I wouldnt have to vote 3rd party. If you stood for something more than giving Trump a blowy then this wouldnt have happened. -

That actually seems like a pretty serious flaw in electing a speaker. If you cant vote because your race isn't called, whats stopping less ethical districts from simply not calling a race if it hurts "the other side"? I also thought they wont vote on speaker until the new House is sat, which isn't until next year right? -
It begins! DeSantis holds a lead in the first post midterm primary poll. This really isnt all that shocking. With the amount of hate thrown at Trump since the midterms its pretty clear that a majority in the GOP want to move on from him. The only question at this point is how ugly will the civil war truly be. Trump wont go down quietly, but his antics also increasingly turn off the GOP base.
