  1. Detroits coach literally said that if they wernt going to the playoffs then neither were the packers, then went out there and did just that.
  2. Opening play in the Buffalo game was a 96 yard kickoff return for the Bills. Crazy.
  3. Will be interesting to see what happens next. Some of these holdouts have been very clear that they will never vote for McCarthy. Is that true? Or are they just fundraising off of this? McCarthy still may be forced to work with Dems to get across the finish line. They are voting to adjourn until 10 EST right now.
  4. the 13th vote is underway and there is no alternative nominee from the GOP this time around. Members can still vote for anyone they want, but theres no candidate anymore.
  5. 12th vote down, and still no Speaker. There has been some movement though. 14 people who were a "no" flipped over to McCarthy. So he is now 4 votes shy of the 218 needed to become Speaker.
  6. The NFL has adopted a rule change for the AFC playoffs. The AFC Championship could be held at a neutral site if any of the 3 teams who could have won the 1 seed would host it. So if the Chiefs get the 1 seed and win, and play either Buffalo or Cinci in the Championship, the game would be held at a neutral site. Theres also the chance for a coin flip to determine a game between the Bengals and Ravens. Its a total mess, but at least we know whats going on now.
  7. 20? probably not. But they could probably work out a deal to keep a good chunk of them off of committees, or all of them off of key ones. McCarthy could assign them to pretty weak committees and let them whine for 2 years. As for reneging on the deal, he cant do that. If he does then the Dems could group up with those same 20 GOP to vote him out of the speakership. McCarthy would have to continue to work with both the Democrats and 200ish Republicans who voted for him.
  8. If the Dems wanted to cause pure chaos within the GOP as well as actually get things done in the next 2 years then this is the route they should go. it would cause a massive schism within the GOP while also keeping the most insane people off of committees.
  9. The end goal is TRUMP!!!!!!! and thats it. The personal cult tops all other priorities. Dems could really hamstring the GOP majority depending on what they get from McCarthy. They could severely limit Subpoena powers, committee powers, chairmanship of committees, or even a guarantee that there will be no fight over the budget or debt ceiling. If Dems play hardball with McCarthy they could cripple a lot of the wants of the MAGA wing and GOP base. Which would be hilarious honestly. The backfire on the MAGA wing would be epic. Their self-professed claiming to be fighting for "the base" could end up with them getting absolutely nothing.
  10. These talks started shortly after he lost the 3rd vote I believe. Its just a question of what is he going to have to give up to get the deal done.
  11. The more likely play is for McCarthy to figure out a way to get enough Dems to vote for him, or to stay home, to put him over the top. I thought about the GOP handing it to Jefferies, but I think thats the least likely of all the unlikely possibilities.
  12. Thats a quote to end all quotes. Really have to hand it to everyone involved in this. Just an amazing job from all the medical personnel involved.
  13. 8th vote, still no Speaker. At this point Congress should just adopt the Vatican smoke thing. Dont show the votes, just send up smoke on your decisions.
  14. This shouldnt surprise anyone honestly. Its also a really good sign because that means at least some of his memory is working correctly.
  15. 7th vote, 7th same result. No changes at all since yesterday. McCarthy gave in to a lot more demands from the crazy faction and they still voted against him. That pretty much proves that they dont actually want anything other than to cause chaos.
  16. MI should be an easier hold for Dems than in many other states. Who knows what will happen in the next 2 years, but its probably a hold for Dems. The real wildcard is going to be GOP nominees. We just saw a few months ago how Trump cost the GOP the Senate (Again) by pushing horrible nominees in 3 very winnable races. Will that happen again and save the Dems? Or will the GOP learn from this an abandon the Trumpist tendencies that are losing them races all over the country. Frankly, the best hope for Dems in 2024 is probably the GOPs tendency to do the dumbest possible thing.
  17. This was always the end result from these idiots. They dont have a real option in the House to go with, so they go with Trump. This was talked about amongst the crazies nearly immediately after he lost to Biden in 2020. The idiots were saying things like "Elect him speaker, impeach Biden, impeach Harris, BOOM! President Trump!" as if any of that had the smallest possible chance of happening.
  18. Democrats have a huge challenge in 2024 to retain the Senate. They have a ton of seats to defend that are in Red states, and some in swing states as well. I suspect you will see more retirements as the election approaches.
  19. It is WILD watching this all play out. Its pretty clear that Bo Bo the Clown has lost almost all the support she had from usually friendly places like Fox. Whats still amazing to me is that she is an absolutely horrible candidate who damn near lost in a R+20 district and yet she still thinks she has a mandate to dictate to the rest of the GOP what the platform should be. Shes an idiot who doesnt represent Conservative values. Shes only in it for herself, and its painfully clear that she doesnt care about the GOP.
  20. Ill give it this, the meme game for this cluster F is pretty great right now.
  21. Everyone will get fucked, some people literally.
