Andrew Tate arrested for human trafficking
Master-Debater131 replied to matrixman124's topic in Current Events
I know absolutely nothing about this guy other than the vast majority of people who have heard of him say hes a total piece of shit. Soooooo, I suspect im going to have a fun time reading about this later on. -
Really good press conference there between Biden and Zelensky. Zelensky will still address Congress later, but its pretty clear that he is the right man for the job. Give Ukraine whatever they need to end this war. Biden confirmed that Ukraine will be getting the PATRIOT system, which is huge for defending their infrastructure.

Y'all like legal weed? Bad news!
Master-Debater131 replied to SwimModSponges's topic in Current Events
This is how it goes every time they try and pass some sort of legalization. They put in the bare minimum effort to make it look like they try, but they dont push it that hard because of all the money they get from Pharma. They make it look like they are trying, but its a pretty low level effort. They could probably get it done if they really tried, but they dont. -
Good. They didnt bitch out at the last minute. I have zero expectation that this will go anywhere, but at least they didnt fail after spending all this time explaining why he needs to face charges.

Coronavirus Pandemic Thread 3.0
Master-Debater131 replied to Master-Debater131's topic in Current Events
Its a virus, but there are treatments now for people. Paxlovid is a medicine that can be prescribed for people in the high risk category. Im basically doing the middle class white way to cure SARS. At this point most people will just have a nasty cold for a few days. A bunch of my coworkers have had Covid this fall, and its been very minor for all of them. Its still a dangerous and deadly virus for a small, but significant, number of people. But for the majority of us its just another cold. The bigger risk comes from long-covid. -

Talk about timing. Ive had an annoying cold for a few days and thought "I should test" so I did, and it instantly went positive. It feels like its just an annoying cold so far. Not even a fever. Just an annoying head cold that feels like really bad allergies. -

Invest now in a new crypto that will never expire

That is, without a doubt, the dumbest thing that has happened in a very long time. Its the grift that keeps on giving. -
The Russian reaction to this news is as sad as it is predictable. They are saying its an escalation, is direct interference in the war, and is a legitimate target. To which I say, no, really? A military asset is a legitimate target? Going to be a lot harder to hit than those apartment blocks and electrical substations you are bombing. Im really looking forward to these systems swatting the few remaining missiles Russia has out of the sky. I'm all for this move. Ukraine needs to be given whatever it wants. Beyond the whole "Ukraine is a legitimate sovereign nation that should be allowed to exist" thing, for a very small investment we are watching the entire Russian army get destroyed. Ukraine has shown a willingness to fight, so lets keep arming them. The better Ukraine does, the better the world does.

Its going to be easier said than done to drop her. She knew the primary challenge was already coming, and that she probably would lose it. By going Independent now shes basically daring the Democrats to run against her and split that vote giving that Senate seat to the GOP. Its a pure power play on her part, and its well executed. By going independent now she doesnt have to worry about being labeled as a sore loser trying to split the party when she loses a primary, instead she can start to define herself as an independent. Shes not popular with a lot of Democrats in Arizona, but she is popular enough to split the vote. You are already seeing the Democratic establishment play nice with her because they realize what 2024 now looks like in Arizona. Theres a very real chance that Democratic infighting in 2024 will cost them a Senate seat in the same way GOP infighting has doomed them the last few elections. Lot of people here wont like that. But 2024 is shaping up to be either Sinema or a GOP Senator. No chance a hardcore Progressive Dem wins with her running as a 3rd party now. She will peel off just enough votes to hand it to the GOP.

The 2nd batch of the Twitter Files dropped last night. There isnt a whole lot in here that is exactly new so much as proving what the Right has been saying for years. Twitter actively censored, shadow banned, and hid content from the Right. The Left consistently said that wasnt true and it was all just a conspiracy theory. its clear now that they were wrong and there was an active campaign to try and minimize any conservative thought on Twitter. One interesting bit was a part on the LibsofTikTok account. The account was being monitored from the highest levels of the company. After it received its 7th ban the highest levels openly admitted that it didnt actually break the ToS or Hateful Conduct policy. So far the Twitter Files havent really revelead anything that most people didnt already know. Twitter actively worked suppress Conservative voices on the platform for years.

Dazed and confused, Kanye edition

Somehow, someway, Kanye made the man who pushed Gay Frogs seem sane. This timeline is so damn weird. -
2022 Midterms: Oh god, not again
Master-Debater131 replied to Master-Debater131's topic in Current Events
Sureeeee looks like Walker is toast. All the polls, donations, and momentum are clearly on Warnocks side. Its going to be a 51-49 Democratic majority in the Senate next year. Interestingly, Trump called off a rally in GA as well. Thats another clear sign that not only is Walker toast, but Trump probably recognizes that he is in serious danger of being blamed for yet another GOP loss. -
Railroad unions threaten strike over sick leave demands
Master-Debater131 replied to matrixman124's topic in Current Events
Ive heard that at this point the Union would be willing to sign the deal if they get 4 sick days a year. 4 days. Thats pitiful. Just give them the damn 4 days. If your business cant handle people potentially getting sick for 4 days a year then its horribly managed. Gotta say, Im on the side of the Union in this one.
