  1. Vast majority of Americans back Israel over Hamas: Poll https://thehill.com/policy/international/4629597-americans-israel-hamas-gaza-student-protests-poll/ An overwhelming majority of Americans support Israel in its war against Hamas over the militant group running the Gaza Strip, according to a new poll. The Harvard CAPS-Harris survey shared with The Hill showed 80 percent of registered voters said they support Israel more in the war, while 20 percent said they support Hamas more. That is about in line with the poll’s findings from last month, when 79 percent indicated they support Israel more. " This is a big point to keep in mind while these children cosplay Hamas. The vast majority of Americans still understand right from wrong and support Israel. So even though the loudest children are getting all the attention, the vast majority of Americans are standing on the right side of history.
  2. This absolutely was inevitable. School officials let these rabidly antisemitic camps grow and go unchallenged, and that only created an environment where eventually people would push back. Letting mobs chase Jewish students, straight up block their access to campus and school facilities, and create "no go zones" absolutely was going to result in violence. School officials let people cosplay Hamas, and that only encouraged people to take things into their own hands.
  3. They are though. You are seeing people saying that the President should have no immunity. SCOTUS isnt going to rule on your question, even though people seem to think they are. This case isnt about Trump, its about presidential immunity.
  4. Eyewitnesses: Kremlin Troops Dug Into Chornobyl’s Irradiated Dirt, Cooked Food Over Radioactive Campfires, Thousands Exposed https://www.kyivpost.com/post/31734 "Russian soldiers invading Ukraine in Feb. 2022 ignored station worker warnings to avoid terrain contaminated by radiation from the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, and hundreds of them lived for more than a month in trenches dug into ground saturated with potentially lethal isotopes, eyewitnesses and nuclear scientists said. Valeriy Semenov, Security Chief at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant from Feb. 23 - April 3, 2022, in an interview with Kyiv Post, said Russian troops entering the premises showed little interest in research compiled over almost two decades on fallout and hot spot sites around the station." I dont know if this is true or propaganda by Ukraine. But Russia is so dumb that this is entirely believable. it also lines up with reporting from the start of the war of Russians digging trenches in the highly irradiated areas around Chernobyl.
  5. Israel tells Egypt it’s giving hostage deal ‘last chance’ before launching Rafah op https://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-tells-egypt-its-giving-hostage-deal-last-chance-before-launching-rafah-op/ "Talks between Israeli officials and a top-level Egyptian delegation sent to discuss Israel’s impending offensive in Rafah and efforts to reach a hostage deal with Hamas ended on Friday, with Israel reportedly warning that this was the “last chance” for a truce agreement before Israel launched its long-planned assault. A senior Israeli official told Hebrew media that talks were “very good, focused, held in good spirits and progressed in all parameters.” The official told Ynet that the Egyptians seem willing to pressure Hamas toward reaching a deal and that “in the background, there are very serious intentions from Israel to move ahead in Rafah.” The Israeli official said Israel warned it would not agree to foot-dragging by Hamas, particularly its leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar, on the hostage deal in a bid to forestall the Israel Defense Forces operation and noted that reserve forces have been called up. “This is the last chance before we go into Rafah,” the official said, according to Channel 12 news." Israel continues to try and solve this peacefully, but Hamas continues to refuse. Israel needs to just finish the job at this point. The people in Gaza cant be free, and there can be no lasting peace of any kind until Hamas is wiped out.
  6. I mean, I didnt actually say that, but I guess whatever you want to believe, go for it. Obama did the right thing by droning that asshole. Legally? Very grey area.
  7. The amazing thing is that so far everyone seems to be actually agreeing with the core of my point. Presidents have some form of qualified immunity to act in their official role. Where everyone then goes off the rails is you cant see the forest for the trees on this case. It isn't about Trump. Its about all Presidents, both past and future. Trump is simply the catalyst to an unanswered question, how much immunity does a President have? SCOTUS isnt going to rule on Trump, what Trump did, or anything about Trump himself. They are going to rule on just how much immunity a President has. If they rule that POTUS has full immunity then theres nothing stopping any POTUS from doing anything they want, and the flip side is if they rule that POTUS has zero immunity then all future Presidents are going to wind up in jail. Thats why SCOTUS is going to establish that POTUS has some sort of immunity for official acts of office. They wont even touch the question of Trumps actions. This is entirely about Presidential Immunity.
  8. Even when the decision was made there was a ton of questioning about the legality of it. The ACLU even said that they were tempted to sue but in the end decided not to. He wasnt engaged in active combat in a war zone giving us a very clear green light to take him out, he was making propaganda in Africa.
  9. This isnt really about Trump though, hes just the first President dumb enough to push things this far. This is about all Presidents, both past and future. Thats the kind of case this is going to be. Whatever the decision that SCOTUS makes is going to go down as one of the most consequential decisions in our nations history. This is entirely uncharted legal territory, and SCOTUS is going to have a massive impact on future presidents with this decision. Here, lets take Trump entirely out of this. During the Obama administration he killed an American citizen with a drone strike. Remember the American who became a key propagandist for Al Qaeda in Africa? He was American, and Obama killed him. Thats a crime. He used a drone to kill an American Citizen. Terrorist or not, that person should have been given every right to a trial that all other Americans are afforded. Should Obama be in jail for ordering the killing of an American Citizen? The answer to that in this case is absolutely not. He absolutely needs to be clear to make those kind of decisions without a future President coming in and saying "nahhh, I think you should go to jail for that". I get that Trump is the one whos bringing the case, but at its core this isnt about Trump. This is a question on the limits of Presidential Immunity from being charged for crimes. Trumps just the first President dumb enough to push things to this point.
  10. I agree with you. I just dont think its practical. Heres roughly the example that I heard on the radio that made me rethink my position. The President is informed that there is an imminent attack about to take place against one of our bases in the Middle East. We know where they are, and that the attack is going to come from a suicide bomber in a truck packed with explosives. So he orders a drone strike on that truck. Everyone agrees that the attacker was in the car so the attack is carried out like any number of other strikes, its a pretty routine event. Then after the attack it turns out our intelligence was wrong and the truck did not hold a terrorist, but a civilian, maybe even an American journalist. So the President didnt drone strike a terrorist, but a civilian/journalist. Thats clearly a crime, but should he then be charged for that crime? No, he shouldnt. At the time of the decision all information pointed to that being a critically necessary decision. It was only after the fact that we discovered the intelligence is wrong, and that the decision itself was wrong. The President has to be able to act in those situations without fear that if his decision is based on bad intel he will be charged and go to jail. If he cant act in those cases then at some point that false attacker will be real, and a whole lot of Americans might die. He cant be allowed to assassinate his political opponents, but he has to have the ability to act in the official role of POTUS to make those snap decisions and not worry that a future administration is going to put them in jail. If they have zero immunity then pretty much every living President would be in jail right now. Its not perfect, but they have to have some latitude to make those kind of critical decisions.
  11. That's going to be the answer. They are going to rule that the President has Qualified Immunity, and thats likely the best ruling they can make. The idea that the President has total or zero immunity is horrible. Presidents absolutely have to have the ability to act in a split second without worrying that a future President might charge them for a crime. ALL Presidents have to have that kind of legal cover in order to function in that role. They cant have total immunity though. I think it was Sotomoyer who had the question on if a President could assassinate their rival with no consequences. Thats pretty clearly not OK. POTUS cant order the assassination of their political rival, but they also cant be charged for any little thing they may do while in office. SCOTUS is going to rule that POTUS has some sort of qualified immunity, and its going to piss everyone off even though thats the right ruling. The real question is going to be what counts and is covered under that qualified immunity.
  12. Biden has signed the $95 Billion aid package that includes aid to Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel. The bills passed with overwhelming bi-partisan support and shows our continued support to Israel.
  13. IDF ready to conquer Gaza’s Rafah, awaiting government okay, says senior official https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-ready-to-conquer-gazas-rafah-awaiting-government-okay-says-senior-official/ "The Israel Defense Forces has conducted all necessary preparations to take Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah and can launch an operation the moment it gets government approval, a senior Israeli defense official said Wednesday. Israel deems Rafah the last Hamas bastion in the Gaza Strip and is poised to evacuate Palestinian civilians from there and assault Hamas holdouts, the unnamed official told the Reuters news agency, which didn’t specify whether the source was connected to the IDF. A spokesperson for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government told the agency that Israel was “moving ahead” with a ground operation, but gave no timeline. Meanwhile, multiple Israeli reports indicated that top Israeli security officials visited Egypt Wednesday to coordinate the planned offensive in Rafah." Good. The remaining Hamas battalions are all in Rafah, and the IDF wont be able to defeat them without going in and finishing the job. Israel has already coordinated with Egypt on the attack, and has set up refugee camps for civilians to escape to, provided Hamas actually lets them leave. Its time to finish the job, and Israel appears poised to do just that. There can be no lasting peace until Hamas is eliminated and the Palestinian people can have leadership that represents them instead of terrorism.
  14. Fetterman once again doing the right thing and calling out evil.
  15. Ah gotcha. Apologies then. I agree with you. The smartest move for the GOP would be to jettison Trump as fast as possible. But there are enough absolutely batshit insane voters in the base that they cant. The GOP base has been completely corrupted by MAGA and Trump. Just look at MTG, she is absolutely insane and quite possibly the dumbest person in Congress, yet she is going to win again because the base is just as insane and dumb. Ive said for a while now that literally any other GOP candidate from Trump and the GOP wins this pretty easily. But because they are hell bent on burning the ship and sinking the wreckage the GOP is going with Trump. Unless hes "unavailable". The courts, or health, might save the GOP from itself. It would absolutely be peak irony if a Democrat DA causes Trump to go to jail, thus allowing the GOP to nominate a new candidate, who then beats the Democrat nominee.
  16. Globalize the Intifada sure is one interesting slogan to go with. Im sure thats a peaceful slogan and has no other possible context.
  17. They are literally parroting Hamas talking points and propaganda. How hard is that to understand?
  18. This really might be the only way out of this at this point. Show all these privileged kids exactly what they are supporting. Smack them in the face with it.
  19. Me? I voted for him the first time because Hillary can never be in the White House. I didnt vote for him the second time because hes fucking Donald Trump. I wont vote for him the 3rd time for the exact same reason. Ive been pretty clear that I wanted DeSantis. I think hes a far better candidate, and would make a far better President than either of our current main options. Unfortunately the MAGA base of the GOP would rather the party die than nominate someone who isnt a giant pile of shit. RFK is fucking crazy, but hes the most likely to get my vote if only to try and get a 3rd party enough votes to qualify for public funding in 2028. He wont win, but having a viable 3rd party is the best way out of our current insanity.
  20. You pretty clearly missed where I called out that its satire. Albeit satire that is so close to reality at this point that its becoming harder and harder to differentiate. The far-left and far-right have much more in common at this point than either group would want to admit. All they are missing on campus are Tiki-Torches.
  21. This is no 1960’s love-in during anti-Israel rallies at elite universities https://nypost.com/2024/04/23/opinion/this-is-no-1960s-love-in-during-anti-israel-rallies-at-elite-universities/ "Amid the disruptions at elite universities across the nation, it is tempting to compare the student protests over Gaza to uprisings during the Vietnam War. Five decades after Columbia, Berkeley and other schools were rocked by student riots, police raids and chants of “Hell No, We Won’t Go,” tent cities and mass “teach-ins” are popping up again on some of the same campuses. Now as then, quisling administrators are afraid to enforce rules and radical faculty members egg on the bullhorn bullies. Students who want the education their parents paid for are ignored as classes are either canceled or offered on a remote-only basis. But the comparison to the past only goes so far because there are fundamental differences in motivation. The earlier uprising was driven by opposition to a war in Asia that produced a televised stream of American body bags and the panic of young men facing a military draft. Today’s protests are driven by something far more sinister: anti-semitism. From coast to coast, Jews are suddenly villains and Hamas terrorists are heroes. The narrative is ancient, updated only with contemporary locations and storylines. Otherwise, it’s straight out of Germany in the 1930s and carries echoes dating back several millenniums. " The sad and inescapable reality is that these campus protests are now dominated by antisemitism. What started as pro-Palestinian protests are now fully and wholly about antisemitism. They are blocking Jewish speakers and students from entering campuses, shouting violent antisemitic rhetoric, and creating an atmosphere so prone to antisemitic violence that campuses are having to go to fully remote learning because they cant guarantee the safety of Jewish students.
  22. Loooootttttssss of people on the Right are having buyers remorse over handing Trump the nomination.
  23. Missing from this is the context on who, since the very founding of Israel, has tried to eliminate Israel from the map. One side has tried to work for peace over and over and over again, and the other wants to eliminate them from existence. And hint, its not Israel who wants to go to war. The entire reason Israel is the way that it is right now is because from the founding moments of the modern nation of Israel their neighbors have tried multiple times to eliminate them. Israel and much of the Arab world has worked past that and is achieving peace. But one group of people flatly refuses to even start the talks of a peaceful two-state solution. "From the river to the sea" is a genocidal slogan that means the elimination of the entire state of Israel. Pretty damn hard to achieve peace when one side wants to eradicate an entire group of people. October 6th Israel and Palatinate had peace. October 7th Palestine declared war. Its not Israel who keeps starting wars.
  24. The sad thing is that this isnt even satire anymore. The horseshoe theory is dead on, and these "protests" prove it. The "protestors" have more in common with the far-right than they do with the rest of the country. All they are missing are some tiki-torches and they would be right at home in Charlottesville.
