Okay. The number that was picked, again, is the number that was recommended as an average, by multiple sources, for active lifestyles, to lose weight. To survive, we need less than that. Read the whole response, I even mentioned that was the average I saw from multiple sources.

The 2500 calorie average makes sense. Especially if you’re active 2-4 days a week. It’s enough to keep your body from eating itself, but not enough to make you fat (most of the time). 2500 for women IS extreme, except for maybe pregnancy. 2500 calories then is like only feeding half a person.
Average male from FDA, GQ, Men’s Health, Maxim, and GNC averages together. Female is usually different. Of course, all people are different, for me, 2500 calories in a day is easy, because half of them come from 24 ounces of Sunkist.
2000 calorie diet is because of 1950s mentality. We are still there, if you haven’t noticed. They never updated with the times, so they keep printing the outdated information, because of indoctrination.
