  1. I saw it on TV. It must be real.
  2. Animorphs is really good at diving into morality and making it digestible to kids, but if those same parents had read it, it would've been very controversial. Well... assuming they actually cared about violence, and weren't just mad about magic and witchcraft.
  3. I was a little too young for them. I would've been getting old enough right around the time they ended. I remember attempting to read one, but got confused by all the sci-fi terms. The fact Animorphs wasn't very controversy compared to Pokemon and Harry Potter is remarkable and shows how little the people up in arms over those actually knew about what kids were consuming. Animorphs is much, much more violent, and graphic, than either of those. Significantly more insightful, though, given it's basically Star Trek to the point of frequent references to it but with more of a central focus on a guerrilla war and the psychological impacts. It's probably right up your alley.
  4. Can't stop thinking about the time the Animorphs That book was wild. Probably one of the best in the series, which is actually a high bar. ........ @ghostrek You should read Animorphs. They're basically like reading Star Trek for a younger demographic, but it doesn't shy away from getting into the weeds on heavy subjects. It's darker than Star Trek by a pretty significant margin and handled maturely, so it being aimed at children shouldn't have much impact on enjoyment as long as you're okay with some goofy Saturday morning cartoon dialogue. I haven't seen DS9 yet, but I've heard it's a little more serialized than TNG and if that's true, Animorphs would probably be more like DS9 than TNG. Most books are pretty standalone in their story, but there's enough progression from one to the next that they should be read in order. Long series, fairly short books, easy reads. If you prefer audiobooks, Audible has all of them.
  5. You say that like I'll ever have one.
  6. You're the last person anyone wants to make this prediction.
  7. I like that when he said "thirty milkshakes" I immediately thought he couldn't possibly hold that much down, questioned the thought, and have reached the conclusion that he definitely tried.
  8. If I Wrote the Book: If I Did It: Confessions of a Killer 2: Electric Boogaloo
  9. The authorship is fairly interesting, if a bit unclear. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_I_Did_It:_Confessions_of_the_Killer Not defending it. I just find it interesting and the question of who wrote it and how tends to be oversimplified. Money was undoubtedly a motivating factor, and it's weird and gross nonetheless.
  10. Did anyone post this? https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/politics/lone-star-politics/literally-anybody-else-us-presidential-candidate/3498994/ I know who I'm voting for.
  11. I like this thread.
  12. I unironically considered a follow up meme to suggest you would sidestep my guesses with a deflection to Hamas. You did surprise me a little, though. Didn't expect the double down of Hamas deflection straight back into Israel ass-kissing. I mean, there are like 4 settings: 1. Step on me, Netanyahu 2. Don't look at that war crime Israel committed, look at this other thing 3. It's Hamas' fault Israel is targeting innocent people [just like when daddy hit mommy because a stranger slapped her booty, so really, did she even leave him a choice?] 4. Some variation in there, of course. Like Israel/Netanyahu/IDF are basically interchangeable, much like Hamas and Palestinian. Anyway, my bet was between completely ignoring it or deflecting (as opposed to a puff piece out of spite). Still, I wasn't thinking over the top enough. I didn't consider the obvious..... Israel/Netanyahu taint inhaling, blaming victims, and deflecting to Hamas? At the same time? Honestly, I absolutely should've expected it. It's just most people aren't so shameless and would probably just slink away and wait for anything that can be twisted into a W.
  13. That's all I remember. I just thought about it. Because I was thinking about dumb life events and that was one of the weirdly wholesome, a little concerning ones as opposed the typical dumb life event. In that it wasn't remembered for the trauma.
  14. https://apnews.com/article/israel-hamas-war-news-04-02-2024-9bdf66771b62af37d85a2800f71c0e6c @Master-Debater131:
  15. The time everyone in Pod 6 spent a full day being confused about why a screenshot from @André Toulon had a time that didn't make sense, only to be collectively reminded of the concept of time zones.
  16. I absolutely fucking detest going to grocery stores in general.
  17. He even waves like a sieg heil.
  18. ^Has not responded a single time to the many reports of the IDF raping and murdering civilians. Almost as if you only acknowledge atrocities when it's convenient.... Like someone who, how do I put this? Doesn't care. You don't actually care, so quit pretending. It's little more than a nuisance to anyone with even a speck of sincerity. Your incessant fart-huffing does little more than reduce the credibility of anything you post. You don't get to claim the IDF has been flawless in its response, only to ignore when they do the same shit as literal terrorists. Is rape, torture, and indiscriminate massacre the perfect solution to rape, torture, and indiscriminate massacre? Is starvation tactics used on civilians? Evacuations with timeframes physically impossible and into areas that will then be bombed? Things considered war crimes by most of the world? I'm looking forward to you disingenuously cherrypicking the least important piece of this post humanly possible to sling a cheap, mindnumbingly stupid gotcha back. I hope it matches the dumbassery you displayed when you invoked the holocaust to label all opposition Israel's openly genocidal regime as antisemitic at me.... a jew. I'll settle for second dumbest, I know that one's gonna be hard to beat, but I believe in you!
  19. *starts argument* *everyone joins* *leaves fight* *everyone else keeps fighting*
  20. Alright, man. I think we're taking this a bit far. Don't get me wrong, Icarus can push some buttons and be abrasive, but I don't think that makes him a bad dude on its own. We all have pissed each other off at some point and usually for far more serious or idiotic reasons. Jingai comparisons have their validity; however, Jingai strikes me as significantly more of a bad faith actor than Icarus. It's not really fair to treat them as one to one when they ultimately are different people and the actions of Jingai are starkly more malicious.
  21. I even sold the rights to Hollywood.
  22. ..... This one time in grade school we got done with morning announcements and right as it ended, I suddenly let one out that made my chair quake. I think that might have been the loudest one I've ever done and it was like 30 seconds of dead silence while this deafening explosion of flatulence blasts into everyone's ears. There was no hiding it, but it was very funny.
