  1. They have set Lazarus up with an unwinnable hand. If it had other shows around it, it could be “meh” but still perceived as an ok show. But it’s going to be center stage with zero support so it’s going to have to be a 10/10 every single week since it’s likely going to be the only thing on the block for a portion of its run, if not all of it. It will be nitpicked to death because no one will have anything else to talk about. I have to wonder if whoever is doing programming understand this, or if they just don’t care and just have to air the remaining originals.
  2. The deadline for this years write offs is in a couple days. I didn’t pay this theory much mind, since before yesterday it looked like IFG simply had to step aside so BE S2 could come on with Lazarus. With new information, and seeing BE only double up one week and then get replaced by a wildly unfitting rerun, it certainly looks much more likely that IFG was tossed out with yesterday’s garbage and they had to make hasty schedule changes.
  3. Anime gacha players are a different breed. NFT people at least are thinking about their financial future, even if it’s just scammers trying to out scam other scammers. Gacha players are just in it for the jpeg. Money does not motivate them, just jpegs. Financial security? Generational wealth? No, there is an SSR I need with 0.5% roll odds, I need to take out another loan.
  4. Because the schedule is so jam packed, right? We have been coping they are holding slots since January, cope time is over. If they needed 10 weeks, they could have started Mashle S2 tomorrow and and stalled 12 weeks that way with actual new content. There is no logical explanation for adding this show to the block. Stop trying to rationalize it and just admit it’s a bad move. We would be. I don’t know why they are so insistent on keeping it alive while simultaneously refusing to support it in any way.
  5. Sure, hand me the Sentai catalog and I’ll find you a good one. I don’t care about the genre, I care that this is a show halfway through its premier run, with 3 separate air slots outside of Toonami, clogging up a Toonami slot for 10 weeks. Just cut the damn block to 2 hours, stop doing this to us. Toonami airs ON Adult Swim. It’s not some special, insulated audience. Anyone who cares about CSE started watching it last month when it started. No new eyes are being brought to this show by airing it on Toonami. But there will be new resentment towards the show since it’s airing somewhere it shouldn’t be.
  6. That sounds much better than apes that are unenthusiastic about large, personal watercraft. Where do I send my life savings?
  7. I have been giving it a chance. Every Sunday at 11:30. When it premiers. It’s a good show. That doesn’t mean it should be leaking onto Toonami. I do not want to rewatch what I have already seen. It’s not an action show. It’s a slow, thriller/mystery and frankly, I’d be pissed if it does a 180 away from this. There is no point in Toonami existing if it’s just gonna be a fourth (yes this show airs 3 separate times during the week before Saturday) run of AS shows. And the precedent it sets is terrible. R&M probably won’t, but there is a lot of stuff coming down the AS pipe that will likely be dumped onto Toonami as slot filler.
  8. If it’s not airing ON AS I don’t think it’s gonna be an option for the block. Max is established enough now where it doesn’t need to give things to cable for promotion.
  9. Existing NFTs are mostly worthless, but anyone can start a NEW NFT collection that totally won’t go the same way as all the others and convince people to buy them and then cash out before they crash to nothing.
  10. We are now in the common death throes for a block where they just start putting any ol thing on the schedule to fill time. No one should be able to look at this and feel like the block has a future. I like CSE, I think it’s one of the best things to come from AS in a long time, but it has no business being on Toonami. If this show is “action” enough for a Toonami run, that means Rick and Morty is too. Odds of Blue Exorcist S2 also dropped significantly.
  11. Well, as far as I remember, I don’t believe that it’s been explicitly stated that Lazarus is airing on Toonami, just that it’s airing in April. Everything else has just been educated conclusions we came up with.
  12. Here’s a slight alternative to consider. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that they are going to move forward with Blue Exorcist. So that and Lazarus will be what carries us into the mid summer months. But as I look at the calendar here, September 20th lands on Saturday this year. Perhaps they limp things along till then, so the block can die on the exact day that it did in 2008. Would they care enough to do that? I doubt it. But as long as the block is an hour long, technically it isn’t dead, so it’s a doable thing without spending too much money. It’s a tiny bit more dignified than just abruptly signing off after another of Demarco’s failures airs. It’s better optics for Lazarus too. Even if it’s great, if Toonami is cancelled the week after, it will always be remembered as the show that killed the block.
  13. Had this block started in January, it would be competing with Mashle as well as the misguided hopes we had new stuff coming in a few weeks. Toonami would still have had the edge. If Mashle had rolled right into S2, Toonami would be the clear winner. But that’s not the case, instead we have two not so good blocks, but AXS has the edge because they are actually trying right now. 3 months into 2025, AXS has 2 anime license acquisitions, Toonami has 0. In April, even if we only get Lazarus, I think the needle will trend back to Toonami, but for now, Toonami isn’t in a place that allows being on a high horse. As for the future of AXS, it has two things going for it. One, the guy running it actually knows anime. Chiller’s biggest problem was it was clear no one working on it knew anime at all. Two, it’s not a complete slave to its cable ratings. No one expects this block to perform well ratings wise because this channel is so niche. The blocks purpose is to push the anime.com NFT collection. If people buy into that Ponzi scheme oops I mean investment opportunity, the block will continue on. So if you want to check on this block’s future, check its associated NFT valuations. If they go into the toilet, the block is done.
  14. Well, if they do have anything, I’d hope they get it announced on Friday and not make us wait any longer than we need to. Things are set up too cleanly for Shoegaze though, so my expectations are not high. I could see its deal being synchronized with the other two Rewind shows. They probably called in a favor to start it a little early. I do agree they have to constantly make choices due to the idiot audience, and if they did pull it at 47, there would be constant questions about when it is coming back. Even if they expire mid run, people will ask for the Rewind shows to continue on.
  15. And what exactly is Toonami offering? A single episode of the longest running Shonen, from 10 years ago. Block isn’t really in a position to throw any stones. AXS at least has the excuse that it’s new and still has to find its groove.
  16. He occasionally had snippets of info, but that was declining in recent years. I’m glad there is no one to say “don’t worry guys there is stuff in the pipe >:)” for morons to treat as gospel and never notice he doesn’t follow through. The radio silence is useful because it’s forcing people to look at the reality. Toonami Faithful posted an article about how much the schedule sucks shit, that wouldn’t happen if Demarco was out here making vague promises. Demarco has a terminal addiction to politics and Trump. The way he acted from 2020-2024 you would think Trump was the president then too. I fully believe he has a socket puppet account on both platforms purely to bitch about politics, but Trump winning made the perfect smokescreen for him to exit his public social media presence ahead of a major Toonami decline. If this schedule disaster happened last year and he bailed, it would have been a lot more obvious he was hiding from the Toonami mob. Sometimes things just line up though, and he took his chance to make an exit.
  17. I think this too. I love to blame him for everything, but I think we have actually reached a point where he has been shuffled up the corporate ladder into new tasks that don’t involve Toonami aside from that being where his dookie originals go. It’s not that he doesn’t know, he has likely already been handed down the orders that Toonami will be greatly reduced, if not entirely cancelled, in the near future. But it’s not like he can go on Twitter and say that, so rather than hang around and make excuses he just bailed. Personally I prefer it this way. He never gave straight answers anyway, better to just not say anything than once again misdirect the fans into having some hopes things will get better.
  18. It’s hardly pessimistic, it’s pretty realistic based on how things are currently going. And really, it’s a long overdue change if they are reducing their support of the block. This is anything but graceful. The insistence of keeping the block at 7 slots gives people hopium that better times are coming. Slotting in the Rewind shows gives people hopium that they will continue on. Remember, the average Toonami viewer is an absolute idiot, they won’t put the pieces together based on Kai restarting that the other two won’t go beyond their current license either. So what’s going to happen is after months of this current trash schedule, there will be an abrupt cut when the Rewind shows run out, and then the community panic will set in, because the only thing the idiot audience will understand is time reduction. If they wanted a graceful end, they should have done what Mr Idea Box said the first week of the year. That at least would have greatly reduced expectations and given people time to come to terms with the inevitable end incoming. 12 - Mashle 12:30 - Blue Exorcist 1 - One Piece 1:30 - whatever rerun Absolutely nothing changes if this would have been the January schedule aside from people having reduced expectations. The BE double up could have gone to midnight rather than an FLCL abortion. DST is on March 8th, that would be a great time for them to try and squeeze a cut in.
  19. Maybe they will be 1 year deals since they are from Viz. Don’t have anything to support that theory, just a thought. They seem very dedicated to not moving Naruto or Sailor Moon any earlier, as if they want them in the easiest place to remove them. If Toonami actually gets to premier Lazarus, perhaps Kai is just temporary filler to be replaced by the Lazarus sub in April. Barely anyone is tuning in that late anyway so maybe they just figure most people won’t notice or care if it restarts for a bit.
  20. As theorized, Toonami only has up to episode 47 of DBZ Kai. Which will now restart from episode 1 starting on 3/8. So I think we can safely say that the Rewind shows will not go beyond their initial deals, and will instead just loop until they expire.
  21. Settle your ass down, it’s the first week of a brand new block, they arent gonna roll out the entire world on week one. This is why new anime blocks never come up, “bro why don’t they have a gold standard schedule on night one? Dropped!” As of right now, this block has more acquired shows than Toonami has gotten in 2025. Plus, I wasn’t referring to the shows on the schedule. If you skim his profile, he is running an active list of the hottest anime, as well as points out how other metrics such as MAL are biased. I think it’s tied to his crypto thing, but he still knows all the shows on the list. Meanwhile, Demarco doesn’t know shit about anything besides the logs falling out of his ass everyone hates. It doesn’t even seem to matter that MHA has been on cable before, because zero people in that comment section are aware Toonami existed and aired things for the past 12 years. My one concern for this block and its enthusiasm level is that it’s tied directly to crypto. On one hand, that could be a good thing if it prints its own funding and the block grows. On the other, it has the telltale sign of a soon to fail crypto project, where the comments are rife with people like “dude bro this is so FUCKIN lit $$$$$$ diamond hands dawg where by $dumbasscoin homies at?????” who are obviously grossly exaggerating their enthusiasm because they just sunk their rent money into this and need it to pay off. Ratings won’t be what decides the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works of this block, crypto value will.
  22. So if you have been wondering, who signed off on a brand new cable anime block in 2025, apparently it’s this guy. And what does he want to do? Recreate the old Toonami experience. So this isn’t a repeat of Chiller where a bunch of people who know nothing mess with forces they don’t understand. This guy seems like a proper anime fan with his finger on the pulse of modern anime trends. So the complete opposite of Demarco. Also note the comments where most people don’t even realize Toonami still exists. If this block had better reach channel wise, this might actually be a threat to Toonami. https://x.com/Zagabond/status/1889913418980720805 I agree this is dumb and hope they consider changing it. I feel like the only reason they are doing this is to accommodate the occasional odd runtime episode of Fate.
  23. If Demarco didn’t do it, then who did? He is an egotistical jackass who thinks Toonami, as well as himself, is way more relevant than it is, and someone at CR clearly took that personally and decided to humble him by borderline killing his precious block. Sometimes I wonder if there is more to the breakdown between them over the early originals that were joint projects. Seems like once that deal went south, is around the same time CR started blockading their shows. The issue can’t be that they were shit, because believe it or not, CR has plenty of other original projects from the same time period that were worse. Did Demarco overplay his hand here and tank the deal? Guess we will never know. But what we do know is, Crunchyroll is not cooperative with Toonami and that does not seem to be improving. I find it hard to believe it’s a budget thing, especially when CR has such a vast catalog. Maybe the big shows are out of range at launch, but we don’t get ANYTHING from CR. They have to go through Toei to get 10 year old episodes of One Piece. We have not gotten a non sequel pickup from CR since Gridman in January 2021. Yet we were able to afford Demon Slayer last year. It’s not a budget thing, there is just no way. If Toonami wants to start shilling NFTs in exchange for actually having a schedule again, I don’t care. Let dumb people get rug pulled while I enjoy their money being spent on anime.
  24. It’s not about the money, it’s about sending a message.
  25. I mean, Toonami sucks a big one right now. And I cannot stress how much it sucks right now, but even then, i really doubt this block makes a dent in Toonami, if for no other reason, it’s not carried by most normal providers. For those that do have it, they can watch Fate rather than literal FLCL fecal matter, but I feel like those people wouldn’t be watching Toonami those weeks regardless. No idea what their measure of success will be. Fate and MHA are definitely better options for success than ItaZ and whatever other garbage Chiller aired. Hopefully people who have this and are fed up with the state of Toonami watch it instead, even if just in protest. It is interesting to see them get MHA, even if it is S1. That changes the perspective of CR wanting to hoard all their content, to perhaps them not wanting to work with Toonami specifically, an issue we couldn’t know about because no one else airs anime. Which is funny, and almost assuredly Demarco’s fault.
