I’m trying to save you from suffering. Instead of wasting another 190+ weeks waiting for Toonami to spoonfeed it to you one at a time, you can go blitz through chunks of it on your own time. You can even skip the filler which saves you about 100 episodes. You could even do 4 episodes per week during the two hours of reruns the block has. We slogged through 500 straight episodes of Shippuden, only taking breaks for marathons. We have EARNED a Naruto-free Toonami experience. There is one more slightly more urgent question to ask. Where do Primal S3 reruns go? Even waiting on Dan Da Dan S1 to end puts them a few weeks out from their premier. I wish I could just confidently say they aren’t doing them, but why wouldn’t they? They love making us suffer.

Fresh schedules just dropped. First up for Dec 27, we have a Dan Da Dan marathon with a surprise sneak peak of S2. Episode 1 of S2 I guess? Never seen them do this before. Then the next week, the final piece of the Rerun mistake is FINALLY off the damn schedule. We start the new year Naruto free and it feels good. But at what cost? The shit ass R&M anime getting another run, and Toonami extending 30 minutes for god knows why. Also Zom 100 is getting a rerun I guess? And Dan Da Dan goes back to airing what it was prior to the marathon? Maybe S2 replaces Mashle.

I know it’s been removed from on demand, but I’m hoping they just had 2 years of cable run time for the episodes they bought and are pushing one last run out of them. 10 per week will carry it to February which is right around the two year mark of it coming back to AS. It would be MONUMENTALLY moronic for them to have relicensed that damn show as filler for 5am when Home Movies will perform exactly the same for free.

Optics for attempting to do this I get, they don’t care about that. The attempt will be made if things pan out this way. The optics I’m talking about is how deeply ingrained it is that CNN is left wing media. Just as Fox is ingrained as right wing media. You can’t just phone up a couple right wing talking heads and change the direction of the channel. You give George W. Republican his own show on CNN and right wingers will just question why he is on the liberal network instead of Fox. I guess a different angle could be just tossing the network to the side to prevent it from reporting anything of value. But honestly, CNN has already completely destroyed its own credibility over the years and spends a lot of time reporting inane garbage just so they can talk about Trump more. Right wingers won’t watch it, left wingers will believe anything they say, and independents will get their news elsewhere as they already are. It’s a 100 billion dollars into the pisser to achieve goals that have already happened naturally. Even a willingness to ignore ratings, any TV network loses all its power if no one watches it. CNN really struggled during the Biden years because they had nothing to complain about. “Biden does thing” is not engaging to viewers. “Trump does thing and it’s BAD and you need to be MAD here’s a 3 hour panel” holds a few more people’s attention. I dunno, maybe I’m just thinking about it too hard. Seems like in the cable bigshot sphere, it doesn’t matter how much money you piss away or lose, your mistakes all magically go away and you get millions of dollars for the effort. Why care if something is stupid if you can’t lose?

Pretty bold move, because optics for the channels is gonna be really hard to shift. They could hire Trump himself to read the news on CNN 24 hours a day and it’s still gonna be perceived as the liberal biased network. Same on the flip side of Fox, if someone left wing picks it up, it doesn’t matter how hard they change the programming, people will still write it off as the right wing news network. The only way I could see this working the way they intend is to subliminally feed talking points through a left wing lens. But I don’t think anyone involved with this is clever enough to do such a thing.

Probably gonna be this one. Not like they really have a choice in the matter unless they are gonna try to lock down a different Fox filler title. And I believe AS has long since cast away their final cares about the ratings of 4am. Something needs to air there, and something will.

As theorized when KotH expired, Adult Swim will be letting the license for Futurama lapse on December 28th, exactly 4 years since it returned to the network. Home Movies will fill in its late night hours, and in a shocking choice, Dexter returns to 5pm. Now, if that means Checkered Past is back, or if it’s just airing solo, remains to be seen.

Why does Paramount want it so bad? All I ever hear in discussions about WBD is about what a bad state it’s in and how much debt it has. 53 billion seemed overvalued, 108 billion just seems insane. Do they even have that kind of motion to drop on one single thing?

In 3 years, CNN will be completely worthless. They saw their ratings plummet in 2021-2024 because they didn’t have anything to bitch about. If people can’t watch CNN for the sake of making themselves angry, they won’t watch. What I’m reading is that CN/AS and all other linear cable channels are being spun off into the doomed debt dump company. What I’m not getting a clear answer on is if Netflix actually owns this. It seems that it’s going to take most of 2026 to iron everything out, so we should have at least one more year of AS/Toonami before anything dire happens. And even before this deal, I had seen a lot of people thinking the block runs out of gas by 2027 anyway, so this may just be the natural stopping point.

Toonami will likely get absolutely nothing out of the change, but it is amusing that Jojo part 6 now has a non zero chance of airing on the block.

Quite the vivid imagination on some of you. If the new owners do end up doing something with AS, it’s gonna be all or nothing. They are either gonna leave it be to do what it’s currently doing, or take it out behind the shed. There will be no middle ground option. &nbsp And what’s with all the expectations for Yaiba? Shit looks like it is meant for toddlers in 1990s Japan. A worse fit than Daima that at least has the Dragonball legacy behind it.

With the December 20th schedule revealed to be a normal night, the only thing left for Toonami in 2025 is a marathon I guarantee no one cares about. So let’s look forward to 2026. For the first time in many years, we aren’t ending the year on a whimper with vast schedule gaps that need filled as soon as the calendar rolls over to January. In fact, we are solid for about a month and a half. Here are estimated end dates, accounting for a likely marathon the first Saturday of the year on Jan 3rd Bleach S3 - March 14th Blue Exorcist - February 7th Mashle - February 7th One Piece - never Dan Da Dan - January 31st Daima - April 4th Naruto - on demand says it expires in May, I doubt they maintain the license. As we know Primal S3 reruns are likely going to shit up the schedule on 1/17, I’d bet Dan Da Dan either runs an episode on both marathon nights, or gets doubled up a few weeks to clear it off the schedule and open a slot. Let’s take stock of what we know is coming on the original side, and what accessible sequels they can grab. Originals Primal S3 - confirmed premiers off Toonami, likely rerunning at midnight for the block on 1/17. Rooster Fighter - confirmed for spring 2026, likely going to slide right in around when Primal ends. Get Jiro! - Implied for a 2026 release but we don’t have many other details. My Adventures with Superman S3 and S4 - no date given, though these were announced mid 2024 so 2026 could be in the strike zone for at least one season. Super Mutant Magic Academy - no dates thus far, and not even certain to be a Toonami show, but it’s a Toonami coded show so we shouldn’t be surprised if we end up stuck with it. Acquired sequels that the block can get Bleach TYBW S4 - set for 2026, for sure not making the winter season. Discussion from Kubo implies and absolute best case scenario would be Summer 2026, but between airing and dubbing, this easily could end up being a 2027 pickup Blue Exorcist S5 - I’d say it’s a safe bet this replaces S4 in February Dan Da Dan S2 - if they are smart, they will wait till mid August or so to pick this up so it’s still premiering new episodes in October Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc - coming in at only 8 episodes, and with Infinity Castle multiple years off from getting a TV cut, they likely are not in a huge rush to get this on One Punch Man S3 - Unfortunately, we likely will have this visual abomination on the block. Of all the sequels we lost access to, why couldn’t this have been one of them? Concerningly, that’s it on the sequel front. As we know, any sequel series held by Crunchyroll is off limits, so the likes of MHA, Dr Stone, Fire Force, etc won’t ever complete their runs on Toonami barring a large shift in attitude over at Crunchyroll. What about non sequel pickups? Unfortunately, Toonami still seems to be in a very narrow focused mindset on this front. Our only fresh title in 2025 was Dan Da Dan, which while enjoyable, is another Jump series. The Sentai, Viz and Aniplex catalogs continue to be ignored, and while you would think GKIDS would have something else, they really don’t, aside from Witch Watch, which isn’t the genre Toonami typically goes for. On the business side of things, WBD is once again up for sale with some big names throwing their wad on the table to try to lock it down, but as far as affecting Toonami specifically? I doubt we see anything of note. Unless Adult Swim as a whole takes a hit, we likely won’t see any effects on the block. Even if we do see AS take a hit, odds are it won’t happen right away, we can probably clear most of this year without any issues from the sale. So, what are everyone else’s thoughts and expectations for 2026?

The start of this year really helped lessen my attachment to it. 6 months of 1 or no shows to watch, you find other things to do and come to accept Saturdays will be different, but they will continue on without the block. If it dies next year, I’d say we had a decent sendoff getting Bleach’s final stretch. Started with it, end with it. Blue Exorcist, Mashle and Dan Da Dan were fun too. Well, given last weeks schedule drop, that much was obvious. Interestingly, this could have lined up perfectly with the theory Sketch gave though. Thanksgiving marathon, followed by OPM S3 the following week. Would have had us on a week delay, which is about as good as things can get for us these days. It didn’t happen, but the pieces were all there. Watching the battered fanbase cope and bargain over the current weeks episode being bad meaning the following won’t be nearly as bad, and then being proved wrong, has been more engaging than the season itself. Of all the sequels we have lost access to, it’s a true shame this was one of the few we can still get.

Genndy borrowed a lot from anime and thinks it not being on Toonami will make people not notice. By that point, the Dan Da Dan rerun will be complete so I’d assume they just smush everything down a slot. That way EVERY premier gets shafted for the sake of Genndy’s ego. So many Toonami fans (usually ones who never actually tune in) put a lot of value into this for some reason. Something being a “Toonami show” even if it’s aired a ton outside the block matters for some reason. We saw it earlier in the year with people cheering for CSE reruns on the block. Even if Primal S3 didn’t run on the block, you would see people complain and ask for it to.

Downright hilarious is anyone genuinely thinks this, and really goes to show the mindset these kind of people have. Crossplay at cons is something that has been around for decades, as are fat, smelly, disgusting slobs who have no idea how to act in public that usually inhabit anime cons. And it’s not out of the ordinary for these two things to fuse together now and then. Sane people who aren’t constantly looking for something to be a victim over said “heh, fat Sailor Moon crossplayer wont take no for an answer, classic”. Joke isn’t even fresh, Ronnie made a similar one a decade ago.

I like it, especially since I skipped Daima so it made it feel like DDD was the proper start of the block. Would be interesting if we got Call of the Night, as both its OP and ED are Creepy Nuts. I wonder if they would have to air both. I don’t think we have ever seen something like this happen on Toonami before, I’m just interested in the logistics that allow them to mandate this.

So an observation of the new schedule Bleach is the first show, it does not run a full OP Blue Exorcist did not even get the first night courtesy full OP Mashle is the third show of the night and ran full OP for the second night in a row Dan Da Dan is a rerun and continues to run full OP What do these two OP have in common? Both are Creepy Nuts songs. Is there any possible argument left that debunks the assumption that Toonami is not allowed to cut Creepy Nuts songs?

Huh, they didn’t acknowledge when S2 started. Thought that was weird to do even if these technically are all one big season.

Online schedule has updated, Bleach moves forward into cour 3 and there are no schedule interruptions at all for Thanksgiving weekend It’s a Thanksgiving miracle

Thanksgiving has always been one of their sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t marathon nights. With the schedule just getting a refresh, this really should be a sometimes they don’t type of year. Mashle and BE are gonna carry into February, so it’s not like they are leaving themselves dry going into the new year. And if Bleach carriers on or something new replaces it, it’s an uphill battle for it since it will almost immediately get put on a 2-3 week hiatus.

It appears that on Sunday, it returns to its regular amount. So maybe they are doing some kind of holiday weekend marathon for it or something. They definitely cannot drop below 3 Fox heavy hitters. I’d even say they might need to be shopping for a lesser Fox show or two just as a time filler. They already blew that path forward by unceremoniously cancelling it. It already wasn’t doing well, people won’t come back to it knowing that AS will gladly cancel it again the moment something better to air falls in their lap.

That or my faith in them pressing forward on Bleach was misplaced and they have to announce a new schedule.

As far as Bleach goes, we should get the confirmation Saturday night when the schedule updates. If it’s not, something might be changing. There was no blank schedule between cour 1 and 2 so it shouldn’t be tied to an official announcement. Though I guess there is also the risk of a Thanksgiving marathon. Given we just got some new shows, I hope they don’t feel the need this year. OPM not airing this year might be a blessing for it. Maybe the second half of the season can make up for the atrocities of what’s been shown thus far. If it starts in December it’s going in hot on its hatewave
