Invest now in a new crypto that will never expire
Insipid replied to rpgamer's topic in Current Events
Man, that would have been perfect for last month; bold mockery of other companies' advocacy while still making fun of crypto. -
Hi, ghostrek might lose his virginity soon.

Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe has been assassinated
Insipid replied to 3ngag3's topic in Current Events
Elitist edge? I'm a dual Japanese/American citizen. The former prime minister of my country has been assassinated. I really don't care if you criticize Abe or Japan. I just may or may not decide to respond. That's the nature of a public forum after all. Edit: I know there are other dynamics at play here, so I don't hold that particular bit of ignorance about me against you. I've been accusing you of being mumbo, but now I'm thinking you're that one guy who was complaining about cliques about a month ago. If that's you, I apologize. -

mumbo, I clearly had asked for naraku's opinion. What you said was more about Japan's practices than Abe's beliefs anyway. Shit on Japan as much as you want, but what made you dislike him? That's a rhetorical question in this moment btw, as I don't care about what you're about to google and opine about. -

I mean, I'm quite neutral to Abe myself, but why do you think he was that bad? -

Like or dislike Abe, this still was a shocking event for Japanese people. Peace of mind is something valuable that has been lost in a country where gun violence is extraordinarily rare. -
Yes, there are a few, and no, they aren't out of line. The one near me is next to a Sunoco, and the Marathon typically has its gas a few cents cheaper, lol

What Are You Thinking About Right Now?
Insipid replied to DragonSinger's topic in General Discussion
I participate more in an international internet forum these days, and one of the people said they write English more often than their native language these days to the point where they don't think they can write something formal like a school essay anymore in their native language. I thought that's quite an interesting phenomenon. I'm also greatly losing interest in befriending stereotypical monolingual Americans who have no interest in other cultures ever again. I suppose I can't hold something like that against certain people, but whatever. -

Yamagami, the suspect, claimed the Unification Church had caused his mother to go into bankruptcy, and he accused Abe of allowing it to come into Japan. This "church" is more like a Jehovah's Witness cult: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unification_Church So there's the actual motive. -
I know, but there were still two stores relatively close to me. The pandemic killed them.

Shame, I really liked their cream of spinach, although I'd only get it like twice a year.

lawl, my mother just arrived in Japan two days ago. She's the neurotic and superstitious type too, so. That's all I really have to add. I'm not gonna pretend to know the motivations behind the attack. And although public violence is rarer in Japan, I'm not certain political assassinations actually are that much rarer. And if you go back to the feudal days, they probably were more common than in the West. Charlie Chaplin was almost assassinated when another Japanese prime minister was a few years before the start of WW2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_15_Incident There's also this: -
Duolingo is shit anyway. I was more referring to the ability to find resources and native speakers by using the internet.

Learning a foreign language is one of the most rewarding things you can do with the internet, imo. So there's a suggestion.

I felt so good to claim soybomb, the very first account. It even had that SwimInsider rank when I got it. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything, and when the admin found out it was claimed they removed the rank.

I remember one time there was a discussion about Japanese kanji in IB, and the way he tried explaining it works was completely wrong. I was honestly pretty shocked, and from that point onward I really questioned his "authority." I never said anything about it because I really didn't like interacting with him. He was just fortunate there weren't any IBers who were serious about learning Japanese. Had he tried his crap on certain subreddits, he would have been castigated by other white men that like to claim authority on Asian cultural studies.

No, not the Japanese gambling game, but the Korean drama. I honestly feel like it's the best thing I've watched since Breaking Bad ended.
