It was some offhand comment that was made years ago on Twitter, that was then mistranslated after the YOI anime aired. Tried finding a source, but this honestly feels like ancient history now, so I'm not sure why it's being brought up again.

The closest is probably WorldEnd (SukaSuka) and maybe Alice & Zouroku? I don't remember seeing much pre-season buzz about either, but both have been great so far. I've also heard good things about Re:Creators and Grimoire of Zero, but both are on Anime Strike, so I haven't been able to check either out for myself.
