  1. I've had this on the backburner for a while too, since I discovered it last year. I'm tempted to start on it after I finish my Gundam rewatch.
  2. They do, actually. They set them off July 4. But even so, that entire weekend is always packed, even if July 4 is the middle of the week.
  3. 4th of July weekend is the busiest weekend at Hersheypark. People come from all out of state just for that weekend. And thats just a local amusement park. Imagine how many people go to some of the bigger parks, like Disney or Six Flags. Its pretty safe to say a lot of people travel that weekend.
  4. If Toonami were to get end of the block slots for reruns, then it wouldn't effect the rest of the block much at all. Think about it: if a rerun is at the top of the block, then that will cause lesser ratings the whole way down. Thats why things like SJ reruns at the top slot are bad. If the reruns are at the end of the block, then they won't effect anything before it. As long as they rerun shows like Bebop and GITS at the end, then it would be harmless. If they do well, Toonami keeps the slots. If not, Toonami loses them and goes back to where they are now. See what I'm saying? The only real argument against it is for people who don't want to watch them.
  5. Because that's obviously the best use of those shows, right Ben? Toonami isn't going to get any more slots for premieres or newer shows. If the block is going to expand out, then they're gonna do it at the end of the block, and they're going to fill it with older shows. The block stagnated last time because they had far too many of the older shows running at once, and most of them hadn't been given a break since god knows when. That was two years ago. As long as they don't air every one of the shows at the same time, and give them a while to break, then they'll be fine. And even if they aren't, what's going to happen? The lose those slots and Toonami is back to where it is now.
  6. Because I work at 7:00 am on July 5 and can't afford to be up super late on July 4 to do fireworks. Thus, I plan on doing them July 1
  7. This is a good announcement. As disappointed as I have been with this season of AOT so far, the show has regained my interest in the last couple of episodes.
  8. Both IGPX and the Cowboy Bebop remaster, though I'm sure there were enough people who didn't care so much about that one... In all honesty, it would be nice if Toonami could get another hour at the end of the block just to rerun some of the older anime that Adult Swim still has the rights to. Sure, that's another hour to program and make bumps for, but Toonami hasn't really been updating bumps recently anyway, so I think they could manage. And it would be better to at least air those shows than just let them sit and stagnate.
  9. I didn't take you for the nihilistic type.
  10. Maybe not 11:00, but I definitely think it should get another run sometime soon, especially with the new remaster that came out.
  11. Oh god, AoT leading off the block once again? I'll pass, thanks.
  12. Toonami get revived from an April Fools stunt and dies because of one... you have to admit, that's kind of poetic in some odd sense.
  13. This is true...unless I work the next day I usually get home from being out around 2-3 in the morning. And that's not even counting college parties.
  14. I'm not attempting to defend the decision, but merely trying to justify it. There's got to be a reason for it, even if the reason is just that they were lazy.
  15. Hm... Not thrilled about this. But whatever. We knew there was gonna be a marathon and it was the best option.
  16. I wouldn't say the Toonami crew is losing more control over the block. Remember that DeMarco said back in 2015 that AoT reruns at the top of the block were Adult Swim's decision, since they thought it could still pull well, and the same thing probably happened with Jack. The only thing that is really out of their control right now is Super, which is because they're apparently obligated to air it early in the block. If they have to keep the 8:00 airing, then it almost might be more worth it at this point to push Super back from 11:30. Not insanely late, mind you, but definitely not one of the top spots on the block.
  17. At least the ratings improved this week. It's still not anywhere near great, but improvement is good.
  18. I actually know someone from that movie. He played a little kid in one of the scenes. Apparently he still gets royalty checks to this day.
  19. You'd be assuming right. Less than 30 minutes out. I used to work at Hersheypark, actually. Terrible place to work, absolutely terrible.
  20. I completely agree with this. One Piece was one of the stalwart shows on Toonami, and was, at the time it was removed, the oldest show on the block, premiering all the way back in 2013. It's a great show, and many were understandably sad to see it go. Toonami doesn't feel the same without it. But we can't deny that it's ratings were getting lower. That's just what happens when the show is rerunning episodes that have been available for a while. While it hurt, I think the decision to remove One Piece will prove to be a benefit for Toonami in the future. While the April Fool's Day prank this year was, in my opinion, brilliant, it did Toonami, and I think we're starting to see more of the effects of that now. Perhaps this is the case. Either way, Jack reruns at the top of the block won't last for long.
  21. That's not the only choice they could have made. Unlikely as it may have been, they could have used 11:00 PM to premiere some new show, rather than rerunning Samurai Jack. My guess is that there was nothing available for them that they felt confident could so well enough at 11:00. The only thing I could have seen working would have been Dragon Ball Super, I don't know if they would have helped ratings much anyway. Perhaps they thought that rerunning Samurai Jack was a different situation than rerunning Attack on Titan. After all, AoT had been out subbed for a while by the time Toonami finally got around to it. Jack had only finished it's first run entirely. Maybe they thought there would be enough carry over. That's really the only explanation I can muster for as to why Samurai Jack is rerunning at the top of the block, other than just being a placeholder for a coming show.
  22. The only new show that's big enough to carry the block at 11:00 (that I see, anyway) would be FLCL. I've heard a theory that SJ rerunning at 11 is just to hold the slot for FLCL, but if it's not that, then I doubt we'll keep 11:00 anyway. Once they move SJ either down the block or off it we'll probably see the 11:00 slot go.
  23. Because they're afraid cars will steal their soul, probably. Being that I live less than 5 minutes from multiple Amish farms, I can consider myself an expert on Amish affairs.
  24. Samurai Jack reruns are taking over Adult Swim! The logical response would be to burn down Williams Street and lynch Jason DeMarco! Obviously this is how we solve this incredibly important dilemma! Seriously? This needed a thread? We don't know if DeMarco made the decision to run SJ at the top of the block himself, but given how much it's airing on [as], I wouldn't be surprised if they had a hand in it. If the ratings keep faltering I doubt they'll keep it at the top of the block. More than likely it will go to either 2:30 or 3:00 and everything else would just move up. Or we would just lose 11:00. Either way, the block probably isn't going to suffer much for it.
  25. Remember that the state is more than just Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. In between those two is a lot of rural area, especially around where I live. I went to college very close to PSU, and even up that way, barring State College and maybe Altoona, everything is hick country.
