  1. I do occasionally, but usually only in response to him bringing it up.
  2. I'm blaming the NCAA tourney, despite the fact that last year's Samurai Jack Season 5 had the same difficulty and managed to do better. Sure, most of it was over by the time Toonami started, but not ALL. Also, the Kids Choice awards probably didn't help. We don't see NAN beyond the post-show, but I'm pretty sure it trashed Toonami.
  3. We don't know that. Someone on Twitter commented that they might just play the normal lineup but with TOM 4 doing the bumps. Also somewhat unrelated, since Samurai Champloo showed up on the Marathon Stream last night, I feel it might get another run on one of the late night slots. But whether or not this happens this week; I don't know.
  4. It might be interesting if it's permanently slotted after Gundam or JoJo. But it does feel like a Midnight show. I don't know how I would feel about a stealth premiere at Midnight of a brand new show that will stay at midnight. It probably wouldn't do any worse if episodes 1 & 2 get repeated before Episode 3 premieres on 4/21... But I REALLY don't want Toonami cut by some crap like The Room.
  5. Horror, (physical) comedy, and sports are all close cousins to action. Slice of life is usually a plot engine that sets up for the action in current Toonami shows. Of the three, I would say horror is closest to action, though sometimes it's done without much action and more with suspense, as is the case with shows like Death Parade and Terror in Resonance.
  6. Interesting--a SURPRISE premiere of Re:Zero isn't something I had considered. But the problem is: then what? Would that be enough of a disturbance to keep JoJo at 12:30 and Gundam at 1 AM? I GUESS SO...
  7. I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of contest. Brace yourselves, cuz this is gonna be pretty painful: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-3-24-2018.html P2+ Last Week This Week Change DBS 988,000 1,018,000 30,000 DBZKFC 826,000 838,000 12,000 BClover 643,000 632,000 -11,000 JoJo 549,000 518,000 -31,000 Gundam 474,000 465,000 -9,000 AVERAGE -1,800 A 18-34 Last Week This Week Change DBS 0.60 0.58 -0.02 DBZKFC 0.50 0.47 -0.03 BClover 0.37 0.34 -0.03 JoJo 0.32 0.26 -0.06 Gundam 0.29 0.23 -0.06 AVERAGE -0.04 A 18-49 Last Week This Week Change DBS 0.48 0.45 -0.03 DBZKFC 0.39 0.37 -0.02 BClover 0.30 0.27 -0.03 JoJo 0.26 0.21 -0.05 Gundam 0.22 0.19 -0.03 AVERAGE -0.03 I didn't think it was possible for almost EVERYTHING to be worse than St. Patrick's day, but there ya go. All shows except totals for the Dragon Balls were down slightly, or considerably in the case of JoJo and Gundam. Well, that's it for hard numbers; now how about estimates and retention? 8. I don't know if this is just in the U.S. or worldwide, but...
  9. Gee, I wonder why THIS happened?? I betcha this had little to do with Toonami's dub premiere and everything to do with the new subtitled episode. 122K Facebook interactions and 65K Twitter interactions is pretty formidable, but even so, couldn't hold a candle to Nick's Kid's Choice awards, even not counting Instagram interactions! DBS didn't even get 1000 of those, but over 90% of Kid's Choice was thanks to Instagram! Toonami really should do some kind of promotion with Instagram if they even care about this...
  10. Just when I thought Toonami had coughed up the rights to Samurai Champloo, it shows up out of nowhere for only its 2nd weekday streaming run ever! But what's even more interesting is what this implies. If [as] and Toonami's deal to air it is for multiple years and multiple runs after all, it could be replacing Cowboy Bebop, and that really wouldn't be a terrible choice. It did damn good for a rerun in the ratings with its first Toonami run in 2016, and might do decent at the butt-end of the block in 2018!
  11. I had forgotten the filler tapeworms had teeth!
  12. Most of the time the needing access to social media is optional, though they WILL hound you about it periodically until you do.
  13. Ok, I didn't see it at first, but there are some flashy scenes from about 0:30 to 0:48.
  14. Hellsing DID use its women very effectively! Both Seras Victoria and Integra Hellsing (the titular character, yo!) were effective female counterparts in a daughterly and motherly respect to father-like Alucard.
  15. Would be a great, different direction for the "mecha" show on the block to go in with only 4 episodes left of Gundam IBO. That's not to say that I wouldn't mind a TV edit of Thunderbolt also showing up on the block while Franxx is still airing. That or Twilight Axis; it's presented in 3-minute minisodes so you wouldn't even need to use a timeslot!
  16. So did the finale air this past Saturday, or is that next week? It comes/came out on Sunday in Japan, right? Which means not next week since that would be April 1, and the new show, right? Because if it aired this past Saturday, then the sub of the show ended on my birthday, and that's pretty cool! EDIT, YES, it did conclude on my birthday! Too bad that's a present I won't be opening for a year and change!
  17. Even if we DO get TGS3 a.k.a. TG:Re, no WAY that would be the big "get", but to be fair, Re:Zero wouldn't even be the big "get". That would have to be FLCL despite the fact that it's only 12 episodes. Last year's big "get" was only 10 (Samurai Jack Season 5), though you could argue the runner-up was Dragon Ball Super.
  18. Ummmm, HOW exactly could this cause a seizure!?!
  19. I think we've seen something like this before. Not on Toonami, but on Adult Swim... So, Black Clover, was this a cheeky tribute? BTW, it's a hard concept to get, but there IS a continuum between "greatest thing EVAR" and "pants-shittingly terrible." Black Clover falls smack dab in the middle. It's just OK.
  20. Slenderman got a "?" back in 2012...
  21. I didn't notice anything on DirecTV...
  22. so NOW next week it's back to Canon, right??
