hunterxhunter HunterxHunter Episode 86 Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to StarPanda's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Hey, you're right! But this only holds true for Royal Guards, as some of the lower ants seem to be named after bastardizations of their chief assimilated non-human animal: Rammot = Rabbit Bihorn = Bighorn (sheep) Peggy = Penguin ...for example, but of course, this doesn't hold true for all of them. I've got no clue about Colt, Zazan, and Pike. Perhaps Japanese names for "crow," "scorpion," and "spider?" Nonetheless, if that wasn't reason for Toonami to move this show up to 12:30 to directly follow JoJo once Gundam IBO ends, I don't know what is! -

My Birthday Toonami schedule remains shrouded in mystery: http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimdynsched/asXml/24.EST.xml

Not sure if this is intentional or just a glitch, but the Toonami streaming channel is NOT streaming the block from 4 weeks ago this week, but instead, Gundam IBO Season 2, episodes #36-#40. So, there you have it. Perhaps they finally decided streaming the block even 4 weeks later was detrimental to their ratings? If so, this is rather disheartening to those who watched the block on there and didn't have cable, but c'est la vie and que será, será. I guess now I'll have to focus on my DVR recordings, and on the off-chance that I miss one or several (as was the case when the power was out for Gundam IBO through Outlaw Star last week), just have to use on-demand or streaming episodes to catch up. But perhaps I'm jumping the gun and this is just a glitch after all; guess we'll find out soon!

No advance on Wednesday or Thursday night for this week's Outlaw Star mini-marathon. Still got about 19 hours left to enjoy episodes 11-15, which might as well be called the "Aisha ClanClan Chronicles" since she steals the show in all of them! -

Well, it appears that Family Guy won the night this week, and Toonami did better... http://programminginsider.com/saturday-final-ratings-pyeongchang-olympics-nbc-nbcsn-streaming-gains-slightly-comparable-night-sochi-games/ Family Guy (ADSM, 10:00 PM, 30 min.)– 1.205 million viewers– 0.55 A18-49 PROGRAM Viewers (000) A1849 rating A1849 (000) 10:30 Dragon Ball Super 1039 0.51 662 11:00 Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters 927 0.44 563 11:30 Black Clover 730 0.34 442 12:00a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 618 0.27 348 12:30a Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans 525 0.26 341 1:00a Hunter X Hunter (r) 501 0.27 345 1:30a Naruto: Shippuden (r) 543 0.27 350 2:00a Outlaw Star (r) 420 0.21 270 2:30a Space Dandy (r) 371 0.18 235 3:00a Cowboy Bebop (r) 395 0.19 248 3:30a Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig (r) 360 0.18 227 Averages: 584K total viewers; 366K adults 18-49. Both are the best so far of 2018, but fall WELL short of the 2017 average. LOL at the Outlaw Star "Hot Springs Planet Tenrei" episode that was banned in 2001-2002 getting EXACTLY 420K viewers! And this time Shippuden actually edged out JOJO in 18-49! -

Hunter × Hunter beating Supermansion CONFIRMED, plus Naruto Shippuden continues to outperform the 2 better shows before it. -

Also, I found this interesting: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-sunday-cable-originals-network-finals-2-25-2018.html Looks like JoJo narrowly lost to Mr. Pickles 24 hours later in total viewers, but look a little closer. JoJo scored a 0.38 in 18-34, while Mr. Pickles had quarter-hours of 0.39 and 0.34, meaning that its 0.365 average got edged out 24 hours earlier by JoJo! Who's best dog on [as] at midnight? IGGY's best dog on [as] at midnight!! With Gundam IBO at 0.35 and the last Mr. Pickles at 0.34, I'll bet Gundam beat those Hot Streets reruns. Also, with Supermansion at only 0.24, I'll bet Hunter x Hunter beat it as well, but we'll only know 18-49 and total viewers. In terms of 18-49, it looks like Toonami has a narrow edge, as SM's number was 0.23 and Gundam only fell to 0.28. Unless HxH dropped 0.06 from Gundam, it pwned SM in 18-49, but we'll find out for sure soon! -

LAST WEEK, TOONAMI DUN PURTY GUD: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-2-24-2018.html For reals, y'all, Super beat the Olympics on NBC-SN! Ladies and gentlemen, we have our best ratings so far of 2018, as everything from 11 PM-1 AM was MUCH higher than it's been all year, and while DBS has been higher, it's only been eclipsed once this year! Also, Black Clover just cracked the Top 10 for the first time EVER! (It made its debut at #11 and hadn't been that high since.) Nice to see JoJo and Gundam both back in the Top 25 for the first time since 12/2/17 too! P2+ Last Week This Week Change DBS 1,003,000 1,039,000 +36,000 DBZKFC 779,000 927,000 +148,000 BClover 628,000 730,000 +102,000 JoJo 518,000 618,000 +100,000 Gundam 447,000 525,000 +78,000 AVERAGE +92,800 A 18-34 Last Week This Week Change DBS 0.58 0.71 +0.13 DBZKFC 0.45 0.55 +0.10 BClover 0.36 0.47 +0.11 JoJo 0.29 0.38 +0.09 Gundam 0.26 0.35 +0.09 AVERAGE +0.10 A 18-49 Last Week This Week Change DBS 0.46 0.51 +0.05 DBZKFC 0.33 0.44 +0.11 BClover 0.28 0.34 +0.06 JoJo 0.24 0.27 +0.03 Gundam 0.21 0.26 +0.05 AVERAGE +0.06 Obviously HUGE gains in all demographics. 18-34s a full tenth higher than last week on average! And here's what these numbers mean in real terms and retention-wise: Total Viewers Show People Retention DBS 1,039,000 N/A DBZKFC 927,000 89.22% BClover 730,000 78.75% JoJo 618,000 84.66% Gundam 525,000 84.95% Adults 18-34 Show Rating Estimate Retention DBS 0.71 483,000 N/A DBZKFC 0.55 374,000 77.43% BClover 0.47 319,000 85.29% JoJo 0.38 258,000 80.88% Gundam 0.35 238,000 92.25% Adults 18-49 Show Rating Estimate Retention DBS 0.51 654,000 N/A DBZKFC 0.44 564,000 86.24% BClover 0.34 436,000 77.30% JoJo 0.27 346,000 79.36% Gundam 0.26 333,000 96.24% Adults 18-49 Show Rank Change DBS #3 +5 DBZKFC #6 +9 BClover #10 +8 JoJo #22 +6 Gundam #24 +13 Retention-wise not so great, as DBZ Kai drops the ball in 18-34 and Clover in everything else. But of course everything is relative, and everything did MUCH better than last week, as the 18-49 rankings indicate! -
FLCL 2 and 3 Titles Revealed And New Image
OwlChemist81 replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
That IS bizarre! Did some dense moron think the "C" stood for Christian, like in YMCA?? "Gonna watch me some F-L-C-L; Gonna watch me some F-L-C-L..." Bit harder to do the arm motions, but it works... -
That's all it is. You can still make out the shows and their titles, though. And yes, this WOULD INDEED be the first time a Toonami show airs at 4:30 AM since 1/31/15! Even the Parasyte "rights almost up" blowout and Children Who Chase Lost Voices in 2016 only expanded it to 4:30, and of course in 2017 it only made it to 4 AM.

stream 2018 Weekly Streaming Archives
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I wouldn't read too much into that. Space Dandy wasn't streaming either for awhile, until it came back this year. So I'm not really sure that means Toonami lost the rights. But tomorrow would be its 2-year anniversary of airing on Toonami, which means, yeah, it's probably gone. Also, Outlaw Star is streaming Episodes 11-15 right now. No word on if the "revamped" weekday stream will advance on Wednesday night to 16-20, but since 20 is coming up on this weekend's block, and Black Clover Page 5 streamed first on weekdays, it's certainly possible! -
This confirms that Toonami will remain its current length on the night that [as] loses an hour to DST, similarly to every year since 2015. However, this will be the longest lineup to be unaffected by DST: http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimdynsched/asXml/10.EST.xml Toonami still starts at 10:30 PM with DB Super, and airs as normal until 2 AM, when the clock skips forward to 3 AM. That night Outlaw Star will technically conclude at 3 AM, while Dandy follows at 3:30, then Bebop at 4, and GITS at 4:30 to conclude Toonami, followed by an hour of King of the Hill at 5 AM before CN takes over.

I hadn't considered that it might be FLCL S1. That will probably get a rerun but I just can't see it starting March 24th for a Summer debut. Of course, that could also simply get a mini-marathon from 1-4 AM one week, effectively pre-empting everything from Hunter x Hunter onward. I really don't want Darling in the FRANXX airing that late, but I suppose 1 AM or 1:30 (moving down Hunter x Hunter and/or Shippuden) would be good for it. It also would be a new mecha show to carry on that niche after Gundam IBO, which will only have 4 episodes left at that point, ends.
-
http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimdynsched/asXml/17.EST.xml Since Toonami has apparently decided to ignore my suggestions to air a Black Clover marathon on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, Outlaw Star will end on that date, which theoretically opens up a timeslot for a NEW SHOW on my 37th Birthday, March 24th! Well, technically this show will air on March 25th, after midnight, but I digress. The point is: what's that show gonna be? If Toonami is looking to replace a space opera with a space opera, Star Blazers 2199 would be a good fit, and for that 2 AM timeslot, quite appropriate as well. But that notwithstanding, the possibilities are nearly endless, as long as the recipient of that timeslot is an older show that would work as a good "anchor show" for the earlier timeslots. Psycho-Pass would be an interesting option, as would something like Future Diary. Then again, we could be talking Trigun, but I'm picking that to replace Cowboy Bebop a couple of weeks later. Since Gundam is coming to an end soon, I guess it could also be a classic mecha series like Full Metal Panic or Aquarion, but for both of those, we ARE talking long-term commitment. So what do you think it's gonna be?

OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I thought the character design was very reminiscent of P & F, but somehow seemed a little too dark for the series. I'll admit I haven't watched very much of it, though. I usually changed the channel when it came on after Shippuden or one of the better Marvel series on Disney XD. Then again, The Little Mermaid's Vanessa is quite dark for her franchise, too! This Vanessa seems quite lighthearted and fits right in though! -
