  1. Whatever. The point I was trying to make is that even if twice as many people were watching these episodes online instead of on TV, it still wouldn't hold a candle to what shows were able to do following the venerable Frieza arc of DBZ Kai. Doesn't change the fact that quality-wise those shows are way inferior to what's airing right now, with the exceptions maybe of Kill la Kill and Parasyte. SURPRISE!! THINGS GOT BETTER AFTER JOJO! But guess what show came in 3rd in 18-49... If you had told me 2 years ago that Toonami would do these kinds of numbers and then expand to 10 PM, I'd wonder what the hell you were smoking. But, here we are!
  2. They went into why that was the case on the Toonami Faithful Podcast recently. It was basically the Star Wars of Japan, and was priced internationally as such. Somehow, they managed to get Viz to keep expectations low for JoJo. But I'd say MHA and AOT are in the DBS tier, as is evidenced primarily by the presence of topicals (AOT hasn't had them yet for the new season but it got them in the past, even at 12:30, so there's no reason to believe it won't at 11.) In fact, in September, we'll most likely have 5 Toonami shows with topicals airing on Adult Swim: MHA (:30); DBS (:30); AOT (:30); FLCL3 (:15); and PTE (:15). JoJo: DiU will likely be the first show on the block WITHOUT them, but they may yet surprise us...
  3. The ratings for DBS, PTE, and JoJo are in, and you know how they say it's gonna get worse before it gets better? Definitely applies here, as we've hit a scary new low, folks. Brace yourselves: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-8-4-2018.html Ok, so I realize that at this point there's probably more people watching Toonami using the Adult Swim app on Roku, Fire TV, and the like than there are watching traditional cable or satellite, but COME ON! Only 295K at 12:30 on Saturday night? Remember what Akame ga KILL!! debuted at almost exactly 3 years ago today? Only OVER SIX TIMES as many viewers (1822K). I'm sure its total viewership even counting Live+SD watchers on the app can't be anywhere near that! Here's a blast from the past in case you wanna see: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-100-saturday-cable-originals-8-8-2015.html Ah, those were the days. But at least JoJo retained well from Pop Team Epic, or did it? It lost a considerable number of viewers in adults 18-34 and I believe posted the lowest 18-34 number yet for a Toonami show, but as long as it's on a par with Dragon Ball Super's fledgling weeknight run I guess that's still pretty good. Speaking of Super, it won the night in 18-34 and Men 12-24, even knocking off the juggernaught Live PD, so good for Goku and friends! But we'll see if that holds up once MHA Season 2 takes the spotlight (and we probably STILL annoyingly don't get to find out how well it's doing on this chart, but I believe Programming Insider will have us covered).
  4. I don't think it's so much that the "mighty have fallen" as that JoJo just has to be the 6th show on the lineup since it's so damn stacked right now. I mean, yes it's after PTE, but only temporarily, and we've got a situation where freaking Boruto is gonna be stuck at Midnight as the 5th show on the lineup, at least temporarily. I'm hoping it will be 4th after FLCL Alternative runs its course and with no more new FLCL coming anytime soon, they won't do something as moronic as to run it as a rerun in the same slot as its premiere after its premiere ends, but I'm not holding my breath. Surely there's room for a Gundam show somewhere in the lineup once Bebop ends, even if we're talking a rerun of Unicorn at 3:30 AM?? Nah, that slot will probably go to a Pop Team Epic rerun after it takes a 3-week absence from the block. But hopefully when FLCL Alternative ends, they'll at least move all the premieres (and possibly what's left of One Punch Man at that point) up a slot so that JoJo is back at Midnight, Hunter x Hunter is at 12:30, Black Clover is at 1, and Shippuden is at 1:30 before FLCL Alternative can either kick off the reruns at 2 or follow OPM at 2:30. And granted, I'm talking AFTER its premiere run here, in October.
  5. It hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread, but it's now official that Attack on Titan Season 3's regular timeslot will be... 11 PM ET!!
  6. Looks like the stream is down tonight, which means Hunter × Hunter actually ended tonight. I guess it makes sense that it WOULD be 86'ed on 8/6! Oop, spoke too soon. It's back today. I don't know what the hell is going on with the stream these days, but I guess now we get the "new" show on Tuesday night.
  7. Note: this is from 7/28, not 8/4. http://programminginsider.com/live3-weekly-ratings-yellowstone-elementary-and-shades-of-blue-among-the-top-scripted-gainers/ Dragon Ball Super (ADSM, Sat., 7/28/18 10:30 PM) • Live+Same Day: 0.783 million viewers / 0.470 million adults 18-49 (0.36 adults 18-49 rating) • Live+3 Day: 1.031 million viewers (+0.248M; +31.67%) / 0.622 million adults 18-49 (0.48 adults 18-49 rating) (+0.152M; +0.12 rating; +32.34%) At least Super keeps doing over a million in Live+3. Hopefully we'll also be able to see how MHA does in Live+3 very soon! Week 2 is the only week it was actually advertised, however, and in fact even got a new Beerus arc promo! No sign of the repurposed generic but mostly Frieza arc promo during the show, but it COULD be airing elsewhere on [as]! Finally, here are the ranks of the most recent week: Weeknight Ratings Rank (Across ALL Primetime Cable) Week 5 Ep # Viewers HH 18-49 18-34 25-54 7/30/2018 21 #90 #90 #70 #32 #87 7/31/2018 22 #86 #82 #77 #33 #90 8/1/2018 23 #82 #79 #77 #47 #89 8/2/2018 24 #82 #74 #75 #31 #88 8/3/2018 25 #72 #72 #38 #14 #61 Not much more to add, just that Friday was also best among its own programming. And despite being weaker in 18-34, it's still Top 50 consistently.
  8. And it's over. DirecTV's feed froze about 2/3 of the way through the episode. And this is the first time a weeknight airing of DBS contained no Toonami promos, to my knowledge. Oh well.
  9. The during-show topical was for Venture Bros. Sadly, this might be Frieza's last time to be played by Chris Ayres!
  10. I'm actually watching live tonight, as if anyone gives a crap. Episode 25 had some interesting moments outside of the somewhat visually impressive Goku/Frieza fight, including the reveal of Champa and Vados as Beerus returned to Earth. It also contained a Pop Team Epic topical and a MHA topical after the show--well played. ON now to... EPISODE 26: A Chance Appears In A Tight Spot! Launch a Counter-Offensive, Goku!!
  11. I look at PTE as a refreshing breath of "something" in the midst of all the hardcore shonen action. Kinda like a Rumplemintz shot when you've been drinking beer all night.
  12. I can't believe this show, which has been over for a while, is still getting new GIFs on the tumblr, while CURRENT show Black Clover hasn't gotten a GIF on the Tumblr since like Episode 28 way back on JUNE 30TH!
  13. Just to be fair, reading between the lines, the first half of the movie was probably Gohan/Super Great Saiyaman's fight with Hulk Barry, while the 2nd half was probably just Barry as Great Saiyaman jobbing to Mr. Satan. So it's not exactly THAT mean that he fell asleep during THAT crapshow! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/dragon-ball-super/episode-74/.111064 Yeah, I agree. And the plot was nearly identical to Spider-Man 3!
  14. Shocking revelation of hopelessness in the last few minutes, and Goemon just slices RIGHT THROUGH it!!!
  15. You're right!!! I fixed it! Darn it, I hate that I crashed during this episode and couldn't keep my eyes open, but I'm watching it like an hour behind live right now!
  16. Yeah, it's all about Assassins; it's the Goemon episode!!!
  17. Amazingly, I'm still hanging in there for the 11th show on the lineup that SHALL REMAIN the 11th show on the lineup except for the 11th, when it temporarily becomes the 10th!
  18. "Life is but a dream..." so on to the Dream of Italy that is LUPIN THE 3RD PART 4!
  19. What did Ein say to the cow (and vice versa)? Apparently you gotta be Japanese to know!
  20. So basically, this new world doesn't have a god. Dandy's just drifting about more useless than ever. But at least he enjoys Boobies!
  21. RELEASE THE BALL GAG! IT'S SHOWTIME!!!
