I agree, even the Samsung I had was not a high end one(the one I had you still needed a bunch of HDMI cables for example). I'm thinking about splurging next year though, depends on if the new consoles have anything to offer to make we want them in the first year.

Didn't you say you're 27? You can't feel old until you're atleast 30. As for the topic I think I'd also say Samsung, better than Sony anyway. VIZIO wasn't bad at all for a budget TV, that's what I use my mini consoles and PS3 mostly. Also got a Magnavox CRT I like that I still use for my old consoles, especially ones that use lightguns since those don't work on new TVs.
