Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 The fuck This has been a public service announcement from Skiles Inc. IB's leading source for grammar Nazism.
Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 people who pronounce Crayon "Cran" should be forced to eat Crayola Crayons instead of Cranberry sauce on Christmas and Thanksgiving I mean that I do not disagree with you.
Mohri Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Car-mull? FUCKING CAR-MULL? We're going to have to take this shit outside.
Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 Car-mull? FUCKING CAR-MULL? We're going to have to take this shit outside. It's pronounced "care-a-mell," you heathens!
SwimModSponges Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Say "ape piston." Did you say "ape - piston" or "ape - iston?"
Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 Say "ape piston." Did you say "ape - piston" or "ape - iston?" I say it where the first is semi-silent, but you can tell it's ape. Then piston.
molarbear Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 I thought crayons were called crowns when I was little so it kind of stuck and that's now I still pronounce it that way
Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 who do you even know that says "cran?" You would be surprised how dumb people in Nebraska can be.
Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 So Ae-Piston? Nope. Ape - Piston or nothing. You pronounce both P's? Like, A-p-piston? That's dumb.
Still Me Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 this bitch at work thinks crayons are pronounced "crown"
Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 this bitch at work thinks crayons are pronounced "crown" Do you work with Molar?
Skinko Posted May 20, 2017 Author Posted May 20, 2017 why? Is he a bitch? I can't confirm or deny his bitch status, but he does say crown.
Still Me Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 I can't confirm or deny his bitch status, but he does say crown. :D
SwimModSponges Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 You pronounce both P's? Like, A-p-piston? That's dumb. There are two P's in 2 separate words. I pronounce both of them. Not A-p-piston, Ape-piston.
Sieg67 Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 I still have no idea why bologna is pronounced the way it is.
Hornshire Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Wrong. Those words are, in fact, pronounced those ways. By a great enough amount of people to get you complaining about it, at least. Presumably, what you actually meant to say is that it is incorrect to pronounce those words in that manner. But that's not what you said. And it is extremely hypocritical of you to employ a "you know what I meant" argument while admonishing others' use of language. The thing about language is that the rules for it are not prescribed by any sort of authoritative body. They are dictated by common use, in aggregate. A dictionary is much more like a newspaper than an instruction manual. Furthermore, a good deal of pronunciation variety is due to regional dialects. Regional dialects are not incorrect, and they are not inferior.
NaBarney Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Who talks about crayons I haven't said that word since the third grade
NaBarney Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Are you criticizing children here? They're usually missing half their teeth and shit, give em a break.
