Her hair makes no sense even by anime standards and she is randomly Mashiro's sister, Niko Kuna. One of those random "grunt" (maybe lab tecu here) that keeps appearing but never gets expanded on. This revival series has already been full of some spectacular ass-pulls, some of which I'd known about beforehand, but this has to be the biggest one in the entire series. Sure, let's toss out everything we knew about Ichigo's powers in favor of something that makes literally no sense. Sounds like a plan! And just to be clear, I have no idea whether Kubo had this reveal planned out long beforehand. He may have known he was going to make Zangetsu a fake from the moment he first introduced him. But it feels for all the world that he rolled out of bed the day before this chapter was due and pulled this idea out of his deepest nether regions. There are plenty of authors who come up with new ideas way into a series run, but are very skilled at connecting them back to dangling plot threads they left much earlier, so the end result feels like it was always intended to be that way. Either Kubo isn't nearly so good at doing that (which I suspect), or he somehow managed to make a planned twist seem like it came out of nowhere with zero context. Quote

Going back to some of the times where Ichigo trained with Zangetsu and Hollow Ichigo, it seems to fit. Hollow Ichigo always said I am Zangetsu. We always assumed he was lying and trolling, or trying to take over the real Zangetsu. Ichigo had a Quincy design on his bed sheets since the first episode. I think it is just in the anime though, so I don't know if that helps. This reveal makes sense with the more recent Dangai training too. But then trying to say Ichigo stopped bleeding in his fight against Kenpachi because of Quincy Blut seems like a bit of a stretch haha. For me, the one I can't accept are Bankais being "permanently broken." This means Ikkaku is pretty much fucked, but then I also came across a list someone made of all the Bankais that can't exactly be "broken," because of what they're made of - most aren't physical melee weapons. So that was an ass-pull that unnecessarily screwed over Ikkaku instead of just making it so people could recover and train up their Bankais, and coming up with a weakness that doesn't even apply to a whole slew of characters haha. Also seems kind of silly that the ultimate ability would have such a glaring weakness for anyone. Quote
