scoobdog Posted Wednesday at 09:17 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:17 PM Btw, since you’re bored, this is now an Isley Brothers shrine. Most underrated act of all times, IMHO. 1 Quote

His versatility is always lurking just beneath the surface. He plays the power chords just enough to get an emotional release, than two bars later he’s putting Walter Becker to shame with intricate and sublime licks behind Ronald’s vocals. And he gets even less appreciation for his songwriting. 2 Quote
scoobdog Posted yesterday at 12:54 AM Posted yesterday at 12:54 AM An excellent choice, and a perfect example of how we know of them from so many different covers and samples. There are straight up covers like the fictional Otis Day and the Knights' version of this in Animal House or Whitney Houston's "For the Love of You" (which was played alongside the Isley Brothers original on R&B and Smooth Jazz radio in the '80s and '90s). Then there's the samples we hear from Notorious B I G's "Big Poppa" ("Between the Sheets"), Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day" ("Footsteps in the Dark, Parts 1 and 2"), and Eminem and Dre's "Guilty Conscience" ("Sensuality"). The have been literally the voice of at last three genres of music over the course of more than 70 years of work. 2 Quote
