Vaccine paranoia is nothing new

The first vaccine ever was for smallpox and was developed from cowpox cells (the word vaccine itself derives from Latin vaccae, cow). Many people at the time actually believed taking the vaccine would turn them into a cow.

So yeah, nothing really new, maybe a little more ideologically-based these days. I mean, I guess Americans are fucking cows though.

There was one stray conspiracy lady near the parking lot where I got the first vaccine and it’s pretty comparable to the anti-vax moms that raged over seasonal flu shots or tetanus/smallpox shots.
