Hey, y'all want to do a communal story?

Recommended Posts

Like, we all add individual sentences to a story and see where it takes us?

I think that could be fun as hell.

Maybe even make it an official thing @Admin_Raptorpat if you wanna like pin it or something...

Rules:

1. Add one sentence at a time. You can put as many sentences into the story as you like, but somebody else has to add a sentence before you go  again.

2. Don't be a dick. You're welcome to turn the story on its head, but do it in a way that makes sense. No "and everybody died" or shit like that. If you want to kill a character somebody introduced, that's fair game; so long as it flows and works with the story.

3. Probably the best format would be copypasting the story thus far into a quote; like this:

Quote

Once there was a dolphin that had armor.

Quote

Once there was a dolphin that had armor. Though the armor discouraged sharks, it weighed him down in the water.

Quote

Once there was a dolphin that had armor. Though the armor discouraged sharks, it weighed him down in the water. And so, one day he decided to visit the underwater blacksmith.

Sound exciting so far? Ok, I'll start.

It growled yearningly in a deep low rumbling closed mouth vocalization that echoed through the trees scattering the birds and sending shivers through the spines of every living thing on the ground within a two kilometer range.

Did it it have some other way of tracking him at such a distance or were these just the lonely cries of a dying leviathan; a beast devoid of empathy or the ability to feel so many of the emotions Ath'r was taught and has long since believed unique to his kind? Feelings like the pain of outliving a loved one, The rage that drives his kind to seek revenge for a fallen comrade. Was the beast capable of feeling like him about the many trials, and tribulations the world has put them through over the years?

Ath'r snapped out of the daze of unwanted empathy the moment he realized it has happening. He jerked his eyes upward from his own body riddled with scars in an instant, and into the direction of the terrible thunder which he now knew for certain was the sound of the beast drawing closer.

With a sharp yet breathy grunt through his sharp, clenched teeth, he entered a defensive stance, lurching forward as he reached behind himself and gripped the handle of his sword. A zweihander with a blade bearing the end of an executioner's weapon of choice, it was a strange weapon for anyone to wield, especially one-handed, but it was the weapon he trained with and the way he wielded it, so it was normal to him, if only out of comfortability.

The beast truly was an apex predator. Ath'r's kind had long since hunted them to extinction. "At least they thought they had." is what Ath'r thought silently as his body started to pulse with that familiar sense of dread sending every bit of adrenaline from a pre-programmed fight or flight response to his head. The beast was close now. It was truly a sight to behold. It was a predator sized bigger than the largest tree eating animal some of wich Ath'r had only the brief privledge of reading about when he was a child.

*Don't insert into story*  Kind of struggling with the visual imagery for 'the beast'. It's sponges character in a way so I just went with the audial imagery of what a paleontologist thinks a T Rex would actually sound like...Not like Juarassic park, but still terrifying. I picture the beast like something from the game Monster Hunter at this point idk.

I'm liking how this is turning out though so far for what it is though lol. Maybe we need a seperate thread for ideas/constructive criticism?

I don't know about any need for all that,  I say we all just let flow what comes out, brother.

The towering behemoth stepped out from behind one of the long abandoned concrete spires the beforefolk had erected to their gods. Ath'r steeled himself for combat. "It is fitting, then," he thought with a sense of irony, "That the last of their gods will die surrounded by its temples."
