Well guys, I'm officially old AF

One of the gifts I got from my parents for my birthday (which I did actually ask for) was a lightweight stick vacuum. I have all hardwood/laminate floors in my house but I do have some rugs and I usually take them down to the basement to vacuum rather than lug my giant vacuum cleaner up. I was tired of doing that so I asked for the stick vacuum so I could just bring it up to vacuum the rugs and also make it easier to sweep my stairs down since it converts into a hand vac as well.

I think this might be the most excited I've been to use a gift in a long time. I swept my living room floors and rug today and this thing is great. The cats like to use those cheap cardboard scratchers which make a huge mess leaving little shreds of cardboard everywhere and I'm usually too lazy to use the broom and dustpan more than once a week or so by which point the floors look like absolute shit. This thing is quick and easy enough that I can easily use it like every other day and keep my house looking so clean.

That's not old, just crotchety.

No, "crotchety" is "get off my lawn, you punks!".

BTW - In the "Back of the Yards" neighborhood in Chicago, there's an elderly black man who sits on his porch with a shotgun.  Ain't nobody selling drugs on his block.  That's a whole new level of "crotchety".

Old black panther? There's a black guy at work I talk a lot with, New Jack City came up and we were discussing how police will ignore crime in certain areas. I was saying I'm surprised you don't see old men in poor neighborhoods just saying fuck it and shooting the criminals ruining it.

I think it came up because I mentioned this old black man I saw at the courthouse in Omaha one day ranting about how no one would listen to his complaints about where he lives. Busted building locks and drug dealers just camped in halls and police never came. It's pretty interesting since I grew up a poor miscreant, and he grew up in a black neighborhood, so we saw a lot of the same things.

I told him about my brother getting arrested when I was driving him home, the cops pulled us over for no reason and I thought it was weird they asked for his ID. The dude from work told me that's standard procedure for black people, if the car you're in gets pulled over everyone should have their ID ready, because they're gonna ask.
