shonen played straight

Black Clover: is blamed for being a generic shonen when it's actually an affectionate parody of Shonen clichee's and is enjoyable for that reason

FIreforce: is just genuinely a really fucking Generic shonen that plays literally all the negative Shonen manga clichee's by the books and is one of the most boring series I've ever had to sit though because of that

.......... so Atsushi apparently likes to repeat keywords that are assigned to a specific character, and as a result, he repeats them ad nauseum as many times as possible in their dialogue. This isn't a problem in Japanese because they hear this type of thing all the time. The language omits needless adverbs, descriptions, and even pronouns, to get the point across quicker, and I suppose repeating words is more of an art to them. To us, translated in a dub, it sounds stupid because it paints the characters off as having a mental disorder, and doesn't develop them as developed, layered characters.

Shinra = hero

Arthur = knight

Maki = witch

Hibana = flowers

that guy repeats words too many times too.

Agree on Black Clover.

But some of this stuff in Fire Force seems so over the top and cliche, I think it might be tongue in cheek too to an extent?  Hibana literally saying she had an epiphany and a change of world view and how she should act and think because Shinra beat her.  That's like talk no jutsu on nuclear steroids!  Then we have these characters acting weird.  I'm not quite sure what to make of it all!

well, if this series is trying to be a Shonen Parody like Black Clover it's not doing as good of a Job as Black Clover does
