I thought you meant you thought your shift was shit

lol, it kinda is. Not my ACTUAL shift, but what I'm scheduled for next saturday for some reason. I'm hoping this is a mistake, but I don't even know if what they did is legal.

My normal shift is form Sunday - Wednesday, 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM. My mandatory overtimes can range from Saturday from 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM, or extending any or all of those 5 days to end at 6:00 AM.

They scheduled me next Saturday for 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM. What the fuck??? This is the day shift. I work the night shift. Any and all mandatory overtime I may get is supposed to occur on the night shift. Is this even legal? I'm gonna be super pissed if they did this on purpose.

Did you ask your immediate supervisor about it?

Id ask when you go back but also have a good excuse why you cant do it handy

I might just go to the building in like an hour and ask HR in person. I don't think I have the patience to wait for an email response. Last time I emailed HR it was at like 12:30 in the afternoon, and they didn't get back to me until about exactly 14 hours later.

I don't think any excuse is gonna help, but I can (and will) use PTO for the whole day if they did this on purpose.

I sent an email to HR about my shift, but unfortunately, I didn't proofread the subject line before I sent it because I misspelled "shift" as "shit." :/

At least you didn't send a company wide dick pic

EDIT 2: Ok, should be good to go.

EDIT 3: If you already read that, and your question is why would that scenario be so bad.... If I go to a 12 hour work shift from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, that completely fucks up my sleeping schedule for the next day's (and rest of the week's) night schedule. If I have to be at work by 6:00 AM, I'll probably want to go to bed no later than, like 8:30 PM. If I go to bed at 8:30 PM, I'll probably get up naturally no later than like, 7:00 AM. And then I would have to be up another 24 hours to wait until my next work day, work that work day, get home, and go to sleep. Alternatively, I would have to force myself to stay up hella late the night after my day shift so I could go to a bed at a time to where I would wake up at a time where I wouldn't get up TOO early for my night shift the next day, so I wouldn't have to work while being up for 24+ hours.

But it doesn't matter, everything's been fixed.

Do you guys get paid a night differential?

Ah, so now it makes sense you being upset about it.  I don't know if it's illegal to change a shift though even if it is to avoid paying you the differential

Nah, my anger had nothing to do with the shift pay. I'm the kind of person who'd infinitely rather go to bed at 6:00 AM then get up at 6:00 AM, and if I were to work that day shift it would've fucked up my sleep schedule for the next day.
