The cool factor I can see, but he's an asshole. Sasuke's "friendship" with Naruto consists of them being little shits to each other and Kishimoto constantly going back to a whole THREE friendship moments that had and the characters saying that their best friends. So because of that shitty build up and Sasuke being a bit of a bastard from the start, it's kind of hard to buy in to the whole destroyed friendship thing and wanting Sasuke to redeem himself.
