Naraku4656
Asbestos wouldn't be used in the construction of a regular kitchen chair. There's no real reason for it to be. If you're paranoid get it tested

Ginguy
You're fine. Asbestos is not used in home furnishing, it never was. It was used in things like kitchen tiles, which are fine as long as you don't disturb it. In fact, unless you have vermiculite insulation, if there is any asbestos in your house it isn't a big deal as long as you don't disturb it.

Aesbestos has never been used as a soft material. It might still appear in hard items where the fibers can be used to add integrity to the item, but it completely vanished from the building materials with the exception of some special duty piping in the middle 90's after being phased out of new products in the early '80's.
