SwimModSponges
Full disclosure, never played DnD, but there is a big group at work who does. I can't play with them because im their boss, but its still fun to hear about their campaigns and their characters and stuff. Anybody got a DnD character? Are they cool? If you don't have one, want to make one?
stilgar
Do you think alcoholic knights with gambling problems and massive debt who break peoples legs to teach them the error of their ways and who's first solution to a problem is to set the building on fire is cool, than yes, my one dnd character is cool. SwimModSponges
That sounds cool. I've got one in my head that sounds fun.
stilgar
His name is Sir William Gruff. His family's coat of arms is a black goat head on a red field. I also had him duel class as a ranger so he could have trolls as a preferred enemy.
SwimModSponges
The one in my head is called "Chief" Aldaganja. He's a young-ish human who is a scholar studying orcish culture; living among the various tribes, earning their trust as he wanders from stronghold to stronghold. They made him an honorary chief and gave him an orcish name. He's most skilled in speechcraft and charisma, spears/halberds/polearms, and crossbows. No idea if any of that would work; I prefer to use Elder Scrolls lore which all the DnD folks at work tell me isn't cool.
stilgar
Those people sound awful. My DM basically does what she wants and makes up her own world with it's own lore to play in.
SwimModSponges
I'm mostly the awful person; I talk down about any lore that isn't ES. "Dwarves aren't short, but they are extinct after trying to harness the power of the gods by tapping into the heart of Lorkahn. Wood Elves, they're the short ones. Cannibals too." It's at this point they usually tell me to leave.
GuyBeardmane
I have two character concepts. First is Cramdong the Barbarian. He's half minotaur and half centaur. Just the human halves of both. He's quiet and studious and generally dislikes violence, although he's good at it. The second is Geoff from Long Island. He's a human bard from modern times who just wants to go back home to his garage band, but he's stuck. He has an enchanted tablet that lets him on Twitter and other sites to post memes and pictures and converse with friends. Everyone thinks he's some kind of magical scholar since he has a lot of information but he's kind of stupid and doesn't know how to use a lot of the knowledge he has access to.
