In games like Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania (NES) when you get hit you fly back like three feet and often into a pit.

Limited continues.

In fighting games like Killer Instinct where to even survive you need to master like 30-hit combos, when in real life fighting a three-hit combo is pretty brutal.

Main weapons with weak ass range. I'm looking at you, original Metroid.

Not being able to control your jump in mid-air.

Games that don't have a save/password system even well after both of those things existed(Super Mario Bros. 3, Cadash, etc)
Not being able to pause/skip cutscenes

How about games with really long ass password characters (Legend of the Mystical I'm looking at you >:()

Voice clips triggering during a long run cycle or idle standing.

Clicking a button to activate a lift/path and then racing to the path before it closes.

Having to fight several waves of enemies in the same place only to move to another set piece with more waves.

Levels where the story dictates that you’re supposed to lose but only when you reach the end of a level.

Respawning enemies after you revisit a room you already cleared.

Poison statuses in RPGs that follow you even after a battle, so every step you take damages you or a party member.

Sewer levels

newer games:

-day one patches

-online connectivity required for non multiplayer games

-games that focus too much on a shitty story.

-mandatory tutorial levels

- bad dialog

-most modern rpgs

-most modern fps

retro games:

-constant slowdown

-no invisibility frames after getting hit

-bad collision detection

-shitty control schemes like pushing up to jump
