Right now, exactly 4 years ago, Hellsing Ultimate's first episode aired on Toonami, and the block would never be the same.

After it finished its run, more shows featuring copious amounts of blood would grace the better cartoon show, including KILL la KILL, Akame ga KILL!, Parasyte -the maxim-, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Tokyo Ghoul. Sure, earlier shows like Deadman Wonderland and Attack on Titan Season 1 featured blood, but nothing opened the door quite like Hellsing.

Also of note: in the days of the first 2 episodes of Hellsing, it was the 8th show on the lineup and a network premiere. Now, that's also true, as the 8th show is Black Clover!

Damn you decided to punish yourself eh? I took electronics and played an asteroid knock off game for one of my electives. I feel like that decision worked out best for all concerned.

This thread would be more interesting if it was about a rewatch of the show. I hate it when we do nothing but pointlessly rattle off facts.

Ooooh I'm good at this.

While catenation most readily occurs with the element carbon, both silicon and germanium can also catenate to lesser degrees.

At least the facts were actually related to Toonami and a reflection on Hellsing's position in the lineup 4 years ago as opposed to today, when in terms of actual timeslot, it was in the same spot Lupin and Bebop are now, but in terms of timeslot RELATIVE to the beginning of Toonami, it's where JoJo and Black Clover are now.

It was kind of a "how far we've come" thing, but at least it was RELATED to Toonami, ya dig?

You know, I think I'm just jaded. Your downright religious appreciation for Hellsing is somehow more annoying to me than anyone else's liking of a certain show, but I should stop with that. And on a similar note, using your favorite show for a tangent about the block, instead of stating it as "Toonami used to air like this, but now it's longer and starts earlier." That seems like the making of an insufferable genius... except when me or Poke says something like that. Then it's acceptable. :RoboIndifferent:

But hey, I'm not meaning to hurt anyone. You can just give this post the "laughing" reaction and get back to whatever you're doing. Most of the problems are on me.

Well, we could also explore it from this angle: back in '14, shows like Gurren Lagann and Hellsing Ultimate gave Toonami a sense of variety many feel might be lacking now. We've had plenty of mecha since (one could argue FLCL Alternative is that sub-genre's current representative), but we haven't had a good vampire show SINCE Hellsing, so it seems like a new vampire show on Toonami would actually be a good thing, but what's good enough in that sub-genre for the Better Cartoon Show? Yes, I'm aware that JoJo DID have vampires, but except for a brief comeback at the end of Part 3, they're mostly gone for now.

I have to do something to put you in line should you get the idea to make 15 Halloween and/or Hellsing threads again like you used to constantly do! :D

This will be the first Saturday before Halloween they haven't done one since 2014. Of course, none of them have been thematic like a Hellsing or Tokyo Ghoul marathon would have been.

Maybe it would be interesting for them to run the original Hellsing from start to finish one year?

4 years ago, Episode VI, A.K.A. the most explosive episode of the series, aired on Toonami.

I think I'll watch the commentary version tonight...

I'm surprised there's no marathon either.  But I'm not complaining lol.  I hate marathons.

You're never going to get off that Hellsing Halloween marathon idea, are you?

Oh yeah, Episode 7 was on 4 years ago, wasn't it???

This episode served an interesting purpose, and proved Major really didn't give a damn about his charges.

And oh yeah, Seras completed her transformation.
