Episode 2: "To the Promised Resort! Vegeta Takes a Family Trip?"

super02_01-lg.png?x34200    super02_02-lg.png?x34200

Recap: Since the defeat of Kid Buu, Goku has retired and taken up farming, though he wishes he could train with King Kai just in case someone even more powerful comes along.  Gohan and Videl are still together and Goten and Trunks want to get a gift for Videl.  They brave the wilds, fight a giant snake, and bring back...normal water, which Videl graciously accepts.  Mr. Satan has assured the world that peace has finally come to stay (as long as he keeps Majin Buu happy, at least).  He eventually makes way to Goku's place and gives him the 100,000,000 zenny that he got as reward for defeating Buu.  With it, Goku is able to leave to train with King Kai and still leave his family in financial comfort.

just to prepare everyone for this episode

it is a Vegeta "torture porn" episode....pretty much all non-action based Vegeta centric episodes of Super are, the only positive thing I can say about it is that it establishes how much Vegeta has softened as a person (dispite the horrible shit that happens to him this episode he doesn't blow up a city)

Oh God this episode...

No really, were the contractually obligated by Toei to not skip to the alternate universe stuff?

UnPfxtU.png

seriously though this ep feels like it was written by Zeus Cervas and Casey Alexander

the funny thing is I don't know why horrible things happening to vegeta in this show bothers me

because literally all the fanart I've done of him has him in humiliating poses costumes or scenarios

We can only wonder. Maybe it was simply seared and still partly raw?

BTW, no need for spoiler tags yet.

also this episode was not as bad as I was told it was

the only humiliating thing that happened to Vegeta was the Ink

everything else was basically just him being comically serious while everyone around him was jolly

I forgot that this airs at 8

I'll catch the rerun

It's all good.  I doubt I'll ever have time to watch it at 8.  Between Rebels, and my re-watches, podcasts, everything else.

I actually had to set up a manual recording at 10:30pm CST to get my DVR to record the Toonami airing every week.  Otherwise a series recording defaults to the AS airing.  Don't want that version.  Want the Toonami goodies, and regular AS usually plays stupid shit during their ad breaks.

We had some of my birthday festivities tonight.  Little Caesar's Deep Deep Dish Stuffed Crust Supreme Pizza, and homemade authentic Black Forest Cake!  My Grandma gave me this awesome Aristo-Craft G Guage Jack Daniel's train set she won in a drawing years ago!  Never thought we'd find it back in her house!  It's awesome!

On the 19th, my actual birthday, I'm going to my favorite Japanese restaurant for lunch.  They've got bento boxes, sushi (cooked as well, thankfully), a hibachi grill, bar, you name it.  I'm definitely doing the hibachi again this year.  Great place.

In April, we're going to ride on the Texas State Railroad, steam train ride with period locomotive and vintage cars.  Good times for sure!

Anyway, some of my family are going to see La La Land so I am going to see Rogue One... for the third time! :D I love that movie.  My third favorite Star Wars after Empire and Sith now.  So I'll probably miss a good amount of Toonami.  My recordings will be waiting for me.  Anyway, enjoy the night, everyone! :)

I've eaten raw sushi with no ill effects, just gotta make sure you get it from a good place

Eel sushi however HAS to be cooked......because raw Eel Blood is toxic

^ Rogue One is indeed dope as fuck.

I feel like now I can't watch Episode IV anymore without watching Rogue One immediately before it.

Oh fuck yes.  Yep, they are pretty much one movie at this point. :D

Not sure if anyone cares, but this extremely obscure blink and you miss it ship from Return of the Jedi is in Rogue One, and it's going to be in Rebels!  I caught it in the recent Rebels trailer!  Anyway, I knew I saw some Klingon-ass looking ship in the Rebel fleet in Jedi all these years!  I wasn't crazy!  The name even sounds Klingon! :D

The Braha'tok-class gunship is in the lower right.  Oh, and of course, the Ghost was there! :) I didn't even catch all this stuff on the first viewing!

I'm still not sure what Pablo Hidalgo's position is.  Is he like the Demarco of Lucasfilm? :D But yeah, this just goes to show you LucasFilm's extreme attention to detail, their loyalty and love of the fans, and how big of Star Wars fans they are, that they put in stuff like this.

Okay, Stars Wars nerd tangent over. :D

It's a good place.  Very good place.  I just don't like to eat raw stuff.  We got this big boat with a bunch of sushi on it one time.  It was for my Grandma's birthday actually.  So I can say I tried raw sushi, but it was once, haha.  Won't happen again.  At least there was some cooked on it though. :D

What with the premieres at 8pm is DBS technically a return of Adult Swim Action?

more like Toonami slowly infecting the rest of the block (by 2018 all of Saturday will be toonami not just the midnight hour, I'm calling it now)

Why does he not just divorce Chichi?  I think it would be better for everyone.  Audience, included.

by all means they should, being married to him is clearly a horrible stress on her, and Goku despite loving her....is kind of a fucking horrible husband
