Blatch Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 The thing with Stand-Alone Complex is that Manga Entertainment owns the home video rights to the show in perpetuity because they bankrolled a large amount of the series' production, just like they did for the original movie. Basically, they thought this franchise could become the next Akira in the west and wanted to take advantage of that. And now, Anchor Bay is now the permanent licensor for the series through owning Manga after some corporate buyouts. They also happen to give zero damns about anime in general. So the franchise is pretty much doomed to forever getting inadequate home media releases in America, which really fucking sucks. I can't even imagine how such a critically acclaimed franchise could suffer this fate. The only thing we can do about it is to import a foreign release, and thankfully, I've heard very good things about those sets from South Korea. 3

I think this was mentioned in the ep where we first learned he had so many people watching his actions. Plus Kuze warns the Major just before she tried to fully connect to him to try to see through his eyes, to find his location, about what connecting to his memories or whatever else is there seems to do to most people. Thanks for the info. I must say I have failed to really absorb the Kuze stuff in particular. Over the years I kind of glazed over it and attributed everything to charisma, but I have a renewed interest in what they are trying to say. There are so many layers to this show you kind of don't realize how much you don't fully understand until the 4-5th watch through. Unlike other sci-fi shows it's not just mumbo jumbo either. I completely respect the show and trust it's worth understanding the underlying concepts. Thanks again dude Edited April 9, 2018 by saito34 2

saito34 Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 The music changes a lot in these later episodes. It's really amazing 2
DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 These eps now that we're deep into the show are like a mini-movie 2

DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 (edited) Some seriously intense music right here. Edited April 15, 2018 by DangerMouse 1

ben0119 Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 After 2 weeks waiting we finally get to see Bato and Kuze throwdown. Did Kuze just cut the barrel of that gun off with a knife? Damn Kuze fucked him up. I wish I could turn off my pain receptors. When the shit hits the fan in GitS the shit really hits the fan! Love this epic bgm. Uh-oh Kuze got screwed. No plutonium! 2
DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 The Major going to do some digging. Looks like she's trying find some dirt on Goda's plan.
ben0119 Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Remote controlled corpses. The fuck? And that's gross. Damn suicide bomber. Well fake nukes sure aren't going to be used LOL.
DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 The data's already been erased eh, nothing left to link things to Goda. Looks like it's Kuze's turn to make the next move.
DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Steve Blum getting in a minor voice with a couple of lines 1
DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 The lights of the entire city are going out. Kuze getting a chance to slip out.
DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 All those lights going out is always an amazing scene 2
DangerMouse Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 That last scene after the meeting only takes like a minute or two, but it feels so big.
saito34 Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 I love the way that ratchet up the tension in this series. Feels epic 2
ben0119 Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Goda's slimy fingers in all of this. They only have one tilt-rotor? A familiar voice playing that coast guard captain. Kuze made it out. Goda was talking about messing with the power grid a few eps back. 2
ben0119 Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 I do NOT remember who all those people are they talked about in that meeting.
ben0119 Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Still love how the music swells in time to the logo forming in the OP every time.
AnimationFan14 Posted April 22, 2018 Author Posted April 22, 2018 That was a short calm before this absolute storm

DangerMouse Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 (edited) Yup, Motoko trusts Batou And it looks like she's changing up her strategy this time. Edited April 22, 2018 by DangerMouse
DangerMouse Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Batou wants to have a little heart to heart with you Goda lol
saito34 Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 Huh...I dont recall hearing that reference to messages on missiles before 1
