pathetic red pill sounding bastard endlessly daydreaming of his own hackneyed action movie scenarios as escapism from his own inadequacy and boredom while obsessing over some woman he doesn't even know

it feels weird because there are so many people like him in real life.

How does Bato know that about him?

So, robo-dong?  No dong?

The guy's boss ended up pulling off an attack lol.

Dude has totally lost it haha.

How bad of an STD was it that he had to have his whole lower body replaced?!

That episode strikes me as being something culturally significant in Japan specifically. It just seemed a bit too narrow in that respect.

I guess either the Major or Section 9 had gotten most of his background info by the time Batou crossed paths with him.

Definitely. They must have known he was a potential threat.

I ripped off Ghost in the Shell so much in my scripts: Sci-fantasy concept, cop-show premise, blackcoats, Cityscapes, Detailing, Drama, Action, Secret agents and spies.

I see it's influence on my creative work more clearly now. Even though it was a phase. Not that anyone noticed at the time. Everyone claimed I was ripping of Ichigo, who I hate.

Damn, can't believe we didn't get any extra Toonami instead of this for the extra hour.

Well, it was after the last show on the block aired.  If Toonami was still longer, maybe it would have been a Toonami-type thing.

Yeah, it was also interesting to see the investigation from the point of view of one of the suspects, with Section 9 in the background.  That, and this guy was just totally batshit. :D

Major in the body suit! <3

That was a white suit, not a black one, title screen. :P

Couldn't the bank reimburse e-theft?  Or does he not want to keep his money in banks?  If all else fails, get a really big mattress!

Androids have white blood in GitS too?  Just like the Alien movies. =3

That guy is a creep though.

Is it good?  What's it like?

It's really good but a little hard to describe since at times it's one of those "deep questions" type shows once it gets passed the setup phase, it's worth reading some reviews if you'd like to get a feel for both sides of it before diving in.

It's directed by Shukou Murase who did Witch Hunter Robin (and Gangsta and did designs for a number of shows) and written by Dai Sato (quite the Toonami fav, since many of the shows he's written for have been on Toonami).

Setup from the Wiki/Myanimelist: The story begins in a futuristic domed city called Romdo, built to protect its citizens after a global ecological disaster thousands of years prior. In this utopia, humans and androids known as AutoReivs coexist peacefully under a total management system. A series of murders committed by robots and AutoReivs infected with the Cogito virus (which causes them to become self-aware) begins to threaten the delicate balance of Romdo's social order. Inspector Re-l Mayer, granddaughter of Romdo's ruler, is assigned to investigate this phenomenon alongside her AutoReiv partner Iggy. But what begins as a routine investigation quickly spirals into a conspiracy as Re-l is confronted by humanity's darkest sins as well as discovering there is a more complicated plot behind everything that involves a mysterious humanoid species known as 'Proxy' who are the subject of secret government experiments. The Proxy beings (described as almighty, god-like, immortal, omnipotent) are believed to hold the very key to the survival of humanity.

They even utilized the robot girls in the operation, heh.

Cool. :)

Seeing as you like Toonami I think it's worth the try. It's the kind of show that would totally have fit on the block in that mystery scifi thriller style the block loves and you can feel that it's creators had that kind of spark for what they wanted to create whether or not you like it.

The art style is really nice too and distinctive, and there's a good soundtrack.

Whether or not you like it being that some always find these kinds of shows too confusing or a bit pretentious etc. Plus like say Bladerunner and other cyberpunk it starts off with that "cold" atmosphere/feeling and has scifi terminology, philosophical stuff, etc. And to be fair there certainly is a purposefully weird and surreal, potentially confusing section of eps in the middle (even a particularly interesting but bizarre kinda famous ep that gives a lot of info but in a most unexpected format) though after the fact they do relate/connect to the theme of the story and develop the characters and other things.

Murase also recently did the new Genocidal Organ movie and the designs and animation direction for Watanabe's Blade Runner Black Out 2022.

It's on my endless watch list and hopefully I get to it sooner rather than later.  So many shows only one life! :D

Why didn't they cut him off remotely or something as soon as it was noticed something was up?

The helicopters have like wasp abdomens with stingers haha.  Then again we got spidery tanks. :P
