It's like sex - she's only 7, so you answer the questions she asks, in age appropriate terms. If she doesn't ask, she's probably not interested. And why would she be?

And if that person was my kid's teacher, I'd be home schooling faster than you could say "What the fuck?"

Why?

I sit corrected - the first article I read implied that the teacher wanted only gender neutral pronouns  used in the classroom, which to me seemed disrespectful to the students by not using their preferred pronouns. But I found the USA Today article, which says that they only want gender neutral pronouns used for them, and that they will use the students' preferred pronouns. That's ok - I just want my kids and their pronouns left in peace.

So never mind. The kids can stay in school as long as respect for everyone's identity is maintained (and there are plenty of fire exits) and the teachers are competent (no matter what they identify as).

And the strange part is, I don't know why I'm even interested - the kids actually graduated 10 or 12 years ago, and, much as I fret, the grandkids' teachers and schools are the decision of their parents.

The title was surely misleading. As somebody nonbinary who wants to teach, my heart sank reading your initial response, but now I'm relieved. :) <3
