Actually, Uncle Kracker covered it in 2002, and it did almost as well as Dobie Gray's version. So for this, you don't need 70's  top 40.

Why do you know that?

 

Because the kids bitched about it every morning and every afternoon when I took them to school and picked them up ; it was always on the radio. They hated "Follow Me," too - I don't know what they have against Uncle Kracker.

but Dobie Gray WAS on the Uncle Kracker cover, so does it count?
