We've had auto insurance price threads before and I don't understand the disparity between some places so I know it's generally higher here than it is other places but bare minimum basic liability coverage runs almost $70/mo on the low end here for me with no accident or speeding tickets on my record The thing is there's no flagging system to alert the state to a lapse so it's like you really only have to prove you have it once a year when you go to register your vehicle and they'll check that's it's valid, but a lapse doesn't lead to a suspended license like it does in those states where the cops can tell whether or not your insurance is current just by running your plates, and the fine only amounts to less than half a year of insurance, no jail. I mean it'd be great if I had another eighty dollars a month but even if I did it wouldn't go toward car insurance tbh bc it's only a matter of time before I'll need that money for repairs or a new car or anything else in the world

I never witness the interactions they complain about but I've worked with her enough to know she's never rude, always stoic, barely a slight smile, hits every mark for politeness but gives nothing extra, that's what's so upsetting to them, Trip Advisor SAID the front desk staff was friendly and they weren't very friendly! I semi regularly get complaints from old people about this 22yo I work with who's bailing next month once she gets her degree anyway about her being abrupt, unfriendly, cold, one guy said she's like a drill sergeant, and when I ask them what happened it's always because they just don't like how she doesn't choose to engage in small talk conversation with them, just does her job and expects the exchange to end once they have everything they need so she can get back to her work, and when they keep trying to push it talking about whatever sad sack bullshit or trying to make their whimsical remarks about something completely unrelated she stays composed and gives them absolutely nothing back beyond basic stock responses of whatever emotion makes sense, usually empathy because they're always whining about what a long day they've had driving back from their Florida vacation and eating at Applebee's twice, to this person who is currently busy at her fucking job, they fish for it and when they don't get the fake laughter and little extended "sincere" conversation with a service industry worker that they're used to making people suffer, these entitled fucking old shit babies dropping close to $200 for a night in a regular ass hotel room then try to get this college kid in trouble at her $10 an hour job, at which she has performed optimally for two years, because they can't fucking stand it, it makes them so mad it drives them crazy, and they always think they're being the normal person in all of this, drawing attention to someone else who needs adjusting to this world that they mistakenly think they control let alone influence in any way with their review website-dictated conscious purchasing decisions on which apparently the affability of the lowest rung company representatives weigh heavily, so aggrieved that someone working an entry level job in a notoriously sub-living wage paying industry less than two decades away from complete automation didn't perk the fuck up for the fortieth identical person they encountered a little more than halfway through their eight and a half hour shift, aggrieved and wholly oblivious that in a visibly spoiled and decomposing world of systems designed to maximize the efficiency of the continuous extraction of the extremely tenuous and ever diminishing wealth from every possible angle of eight billion people and counting rapidly, nobody has fucking time for them anymore.
