  1. It's fine. Since know one gets kicked off, it shouldn't be a problem. I still need to make a voting thread.
  2. My brother might have some knowledge on Wordpress, but he didn't use it to make our website. I can always ask him what he knows: there might be a breadcrumb or two that might help.
  3. You spend more time extolling how uncomplicated it is than actually explaining it in a way that isn’t riddled with logical fallacies. Explain how Putin can invade another country without being an imperialist.
  4. Ugh, no. I wish I did, though. Do you have to buy plugins or something?
  5. The thing is, Motörhead isn’t really even comparable to Metallica. On the whole, Motörhead has been at it far longer than Metallica and they span a couple of sub genres in hard rock over their career. They’re not a pure metal band and it shows when they cover metal songs. At the same time Metallica can only do metal. They don’t have the range to do what Motörhead has done.
  6. That’s actually one of his signatures, it’s just a bad fit here.
  7. I said not good. You can still like a song that’s isn’t good - it doesn’t necessarily have to be bad, just not good enough to be unique or exceptional. I don’t hate it either. As a sonic construct, it can amp you up no matter what you think of its quality. It’s not good compared to their other work, both before or after, but you can still enjoy it. Since we’re talking Motörhead’s version, I disliked the bland vocals. James Hatfield is better at emoting through his lyrics than just about anyone else in heavy metal. It doesn’t translate to better music, but it does bring life to otherwise lifeless songs. The Motörhead version pretty much copies the instrumental licks note for note, and drones the vocals in a monotone.
  8. So, we all agree it’s not a good song, right?
  9. Being an instrumental musician, I’ll always be partial to “Orion.” Each of those early album is something of a variation on a theme. Ride the Lightning, for instance, focuses on resonance while And Justice for All… explores on the psychology of their music. Part of Metallica’s appeal at first is that fans can take each album and piece together something of a narrative in a way that can’t be done with the pop music of the day.
  10. They didn’t. And Motörhead’s cover isn’t better because it’s kind of a dumb song to begin with: easily digestible to casual heavy metal fans and useful in out-of-context settings. That being said… The Black Album will always be the point where Metallica sold out for commercial success. The first four albums are by no means masterpieces, but they showed a lot of promise. For most of their early fans, “One” is the high water mark. The Black Album is where most of their fans first heard them, and its minimalist concepts and simplified riffs made excellent background music for a generation transitioning away from that god awful hair metal .
  11. Not true. You can’t explain how it’s rational to invade another country without proving that country is an existential threat to your own territory.
  12. I know you’re not trolling. You’re just not smart enough to have a rational opinion, which is so much sadder than you being a troll.
  13. Distorted fascinates me because I think he legitimately believes what he says and just doesn’t have the ability to reason it. In some ways it’s frustrating because his takes, as absurd as they are, reflect a sentiment shared by millions of people and it would be nice if he could explain them properly. If we can see that Putin’s pets getting repeatedly run over by cars, so can all those people that vote for him (even if it’s not nearly the number he claims) which means a distorted world view on that scale isn’t merely psychosis.
  14. I’m a Southern Californian and I’ve never had trouble in snow or ice, but… I’ve also only ever owned 4x4s. Driving in snow or ice isn’t a problem as long as you’re driving the right kind of vehicle. Four-wheel-drives require more maintenance, but there are enough cheap used all-wheel-drives that can do the same without as much up keep. Other than that and driving slower with less aggressive acceleration, you’ll be just fine in snow.
  15. I was expecting this to be a lead-in to Last of Us joke.
  16. No one is trolling you, dude.
  17. Trust me, you don’t want to just let it grow.
  18. I’ve heard that. I mean if it’s a possible treatment with potential for success, I would. It’s not a whole lot different than injecting penicillin as an antibiotic.
  19. Happy Birthday, dude!
  20. Deciding who is worthy of an advanced degree is a sticky issue, since, you could also argue those political inbreeds are better equipped to learn in a collegiate academic program. Those who need that prestigious Harvard degree to get ahead are also more likely to have had to overcome a substandard public primary and secondary education. They’re also less likely to have the money to pay for that education. The university legacy student is a complicated enigma in a system that is overall failing.
  21. But, what specifically says he can do that? It would seem to me that if he can't cancel the loans, that includes any part of the loan as well.
  22. Just out of curiosity, what says it is in his power to do that?
