  1. Why? I don't even think there has been a rape in the series yet. There were some attempted rapes but nobody has gotten raped. The only problem I can find with it is that the mangaka is super limited in how to express evil in their mind. Like everyone just to try and show how evil they are is to just make them a sexual deviant rapist. It's like okay this guy has killed a bunch of people or is a bully, needs a little something else...Oh I know they also rape, brilliant! Rinse and repeat every arc.
  2. The lions share of money comes from localization companies licensing the shows from Japan. From all the localization deals it pretty much just covers the production cost of the series. All profit sales are within the country bought by Japanese. As well anime is far more expensive in Japan. I posted a load of examples back then of box sets over there being $300 for 12 episodes is pretty normal. I also used DBS as a reference. Judging by how Japan sells only a few episodes at a time rather than box sets like we do over here, it would have been over $4k usd had they bought every episode at the time of release and we weren't even into the tournament of power yet. Anime is just insanely expensive in Japan that it offsets sales in other countries by a gross margin. As well when you buy anime from a western distributor you aren't giving money to the Japanese anime industry "directly". You're paying companies like Funimation who used that money to pay themselves and buy new series. So you're more supporting the western dubbing and distribution industry than the animation studios. A lot of those questions that Mangaka get will usually be answered with the least confrontational answer. There are only a few I know who outright said read/play something else if you don't like it. Hell the creator of One Punch Man caught shit in Japan for being overly rude by saying that "Everyone worked hard on season 2, but not everything was how I'd have envisioned it". This caught so much shit in japan, and people were saying that he's now difficult to work with etc. A lot of fans backed him up though because the animation staff was sub-par compared to season 1. Though saying something like that which in the west would be closer to a constructive compliment, was viewed as the worst words uttered by man. This just shows that the Japanese have a very different way of wording things in interviews as to not rock the boat. If the creator of SAO is asked if he thinks women are trophies and likes rape, do you think they're going to just be like "Yes, I thought that was obvious. I was quite clear in my story didn't you even read it". No he's going to just say whatever won't cause conflict.
  3. Very american though to think that PC outcry culture affects Japan. It's funny how brainwashed people are with that shit. Like the American anime market is nothing compared to japan, and people for some reason think that we're a huge fanbase. I think it's because companies like Funimation have tired to sell the idea that we actually support the anime industry. A few years back I did an ass ton of math and the world excluding japan only makes up like 8% of all anime related sales. The other 92% is all Japanese, america is something like 2 point something percent from what I remember. Our opinions matter not.
  4. My grandpa actually did that in a fight. Got hit so hard that it knocked out of his head. He just yanked it out so it wouldn't get in the way.
  5. Guy 1 - They didn't tell us their names before battle! Has nobody told them of honorable combat! (stabbed to death) Americans - (Angry Patriotic Noises)
  6. I feel like Gentle spent his life trying to be a fancy butler, but failed because he couldn't pour tea and turned to a life of crime.
  7. I made some pork fried rice and am eating it while watching a show and typing with yinz. I'm not a good multitasker.
  8. Lets have a feel good scene. Oh great Deku is crying and being self loathing right after.
  9. Bakugo - lets give it our best iida - Ah I see, Bakugo is still troubled by the time he was kidnapped at summer training camp. It must have been eating away at him all this time. Maybe now he'll finally be able to find closure and move past this. Bakugo - The hell are you saying! Can't I just say something nice without you bringing that up! (flashback) Deku - Bakugo, you didn't get any toppings on your ice cream? Iida - I see, he's punishing himself. The survivors guilt must be unbearable. Poor Bakugo
  10. I've just been playing civ 6. Don't know why but that game really lets me turn my brain off. I really want to start some new stuff or go back and finish some older games like Red dead or the Monster Hunter DLC. Though then I'm like eh I'll just turn on civ 6.
  11. But if the server I'm on crashes while I'm pwning scrub ass noobs people will think I wasn't an amazing mlg unit and rage quit so hard that it booted everyone from the servers. That's just not something I'm willing to risk!
  12. I know that I wanted a cookie before coming to this thread, but now more than ever I really want a cookie.
  13. You have to flatten the curve. If everyone gets on xbox at the same time, the servers won't be able to handle it and crash.
  14. Old picture of Seattle. It was ranked worse than both Pittsburgh and Newcastle for smog.
  15. Yeah but why use them. It would be like me talking about people not being able to find food at the super market; then have a photo of Jews at Auschwitz. Aside from being insensitive it's just bad journalistic practices. It's making the claim that masks work and showing old pictures of people in cities wearing masks to help support the point that "it's not just some new age future science, it's been around forever, see it works". I declare misleading context, I will be sure to send Wired a telegram voicing my displeasure with their integrity.
  16. The article is a little misleading when showing the old photos. They weren't wearing those masks to protect from viruses. They were wearing them to protect from smog. Pittsburgh smog used to be so bad that it would kill people in their sleep if the wind blew wrong. Just walking through the city would leave ash and dirt on you, so yeah breathing that shit into your lungs wasn't good. The point of wearing a cloth mask for viruses is if you're already sick. It helps stop you from hacking water drops into the air. A normal cough can have water droplets hit up to 8ft away. Having a mask on contains that area to less than 12 inches. The biggest help that wearing a mask when not sick is more that it keeps you from touching your mouth. It can help with lessening the chance of inhaling water drops, in the similar way that it's been proven that breathing through your nose lessens the chance of getting sick as opposed to breathing through your mouth. Though you do have to have a very good seal for the air to actually pass through the mask to act as a filter. I see far too many people making these masks that they wear loose, or have huge gaps in them. Hell in WWI they would piss on a cloth and put over their face to filter out mustard gas. The point of the piss was that wet cloth makes a tight seal. The downside is they were breathing through piss soaked cloth. Also very difficult to breath through if you've ever placed a wet rag on your face in the tub may know.
