    probably just bringing up the kai marathon, since it's only been announced on social media; and the staff thinks that anything dragonball is big news that everyone should be excited and grateful for the privileged.     To be fair it wouldn't sound out of place if we found out that the staff pick shows based on music. Everyone has that hipster used to be in a garage band vibe. From what I remember that really was the sole reason why they got FLCL back in the day was that they were fans of the pillows.

    The first isekai story might have been either one of the many Jules Vern stories about going to other worlds, or Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". The 80s were big fans of the Reverse Isekai though where something like an Alien or Cave Man were stuck in modern times on earth. Kinda like The Devil is a Part-timer. We tend to call reverse isekai fish out of water stories though.

    Then DBZ ocean dub totally an Isekai Though then there are shows like Inuyasha which is the past and not another dimension, and all the Video Game isekai which are just people playing a video game and not being in another dimension. .hack and SAO somewhat subvert it by at least having people trapped for a while.

    I was more joking about playing loose with the definition of Isekai. We all know what they really mean by "another world" series. It's just funny to me to apply that loose definition on other shows that aren't really isekai but do involve "another world" aspect.
