Here we can discuss lore of horror. This can range from in story backgrounds given through a series, or the inspirations that the creators took to create them. Since the film IT will be out soon I figured it would be good to start there. IT/Pennywise/Robert Gray/The Spider/The Eater of Worlds is the main antagonist of the story. The characters origin is actually explained through the Dark Tower series and some of IT's monologues to the Losers. IT speaks briefly of the Deadlight what other of his world call Prim. Prim is a rift dimension that is our interpretation of Hell. This world is detailed in the Dark Tower series which is also in the process of being filmed. Pennywise's race is known as were-spiders. Through the Dark Tower we learn of how Pennywise came to be. King Arthur's wife Rowena wanted to have a child but was barren, Arthur in turn had an affair which netted him a son to carry on his legacy. Rowena was outraged and wanted revenge against this woman. She sought aid from a witch to help her become pregnant and rig a festival drawing that would make Arthur's mistress the selection for sacrifice. However Rowena being barren meant that she could only serve as an incubator, still she agreed and would carry the child unknowing of who the real mother may be. The real mother was the Crimson Queen of the Prim, and Rowena gives birth to a were-spider. The people then sacrifice Rowena and forget the lottery all together, the Were-Spider escaped. This give Pennywise a family tree of sorts and an interesting lineage. The Crimson Queen was the mother of The Crimson King who goes by other names two of which being Satan and The Lord of Spiders as the Crimson King himself is a Spider Demon. Pennywise is now shown to be the Crimson Kings half brother literally the brother of Satan. Another sibling of his is named Dandelo; a comedian who thinks that people taste best when they can't stop laughing. Roland who is the protagonist of Dark Tower is also related to Pennywise through many degrees of separation due to being a direct descendant of King Arthur. The Prim/Dead Lights where Pennywise is from is shown in another film called the Mist. In the Mist a rift is open by the government into IT's world. Much like Lovecrafts obsession with Aquatic-cronenbergs, King is a fan of the Insectoid variety for the bulk of his universe.

Had a similar thing happen back when I was a teen. My brother and I were on our way back from the video store (dated story). A cop car flashes his lights for us to pull over, so my brother puts on his four ways and pull into a parking lot because the road we were on doesn't have a shoulder and it isn't safe for the cop to stand in the middle of the damn road. The cop comes up to our now parked car and starts screaming at us that we were evading him. Also my brothers first car like many first cars were a piece of shit and the windows wouldn't go down, so he had to open the door which resulted in the officer pulling a gun on us. We didn't have pot, but what we did have were a bunch of super gay flavored cigars (my brother is the worst type of cigar person) which people often do use as blunt papers. The cop tells us to hand him the "blunt" My brother said sure and told him he could keep it if he wants. He notices me in the car and calls for backup I'm like wtf. He asks my brother to get the car info to him "still has a damn gun on us by the way", I go to reach for it in the glove box and he starts yelling at me asking what I was doing. I told him getting the info he asked for. He then asked if there was a gun in the glove box that I was reaching for. I told him if he is so scared about it just handcuff the both of us and search the car himself. My brother gave me a semi pissed off look for being a smartass to a cop, then the backup shows up. Thankfully it was a cop that is a family friend and he motherfucks this rookie right in front of us. I guess the rookie didn't know that my family was friends with the ex chief of police who is now county judge, the current chief of police, and his son who was also an officer. Shit hit the fan pretty hard for that rookie, from what I know he was either transferred or fired. The huge issue I guess was holding us at gun point as I was 15 at the time, but I'm kinda sure he messed up a few other things.

I always forget how the anime goes easy on Shouto's scar. The manga has more detail in it making it look more disfigured. The anime plays it off as an unfortunate birthmark. It kinda reminds me of the Zuko treatment from avatar where it got less detailed as the series went on to make the character more attractive. I guess it says something for Japanese politeness that no one ever asks about it, he just pulls a joker with people and tells them the story about how he got his scar.

The Yakuza were actually the ones who brought order, but at the same time it allowed them too much power which also became an influence in 90s anime. The term "nice men with guns" was also coined at the time when speaking of the Yakuza, as the Yankee gangs couldn't really compete with bats and knives. This led to it being safer to stay at home than go out which meant that TV shows were becoming the larger source of media, and anime was among them. We can kinda thank gang violence for the boom of anime in Japan. Still so much research!!! Then people still complain over her not being a clone of Orihime. Damn Inuyasha got away with everyone calling Kagome Kikyo and they looked nothing alike. Apparently the looks were more apparent in the manga, and over time they began to look different signifying that they have changed as people, the anime took the later concepts as their starting model.
