I'm going to disagree on your explanation for his reasoning. He's not interested in being heard. What he does is entirely for himself. So there's this thing cults do- when they have their members go out recruiting it's not actually about gaining new members. Most people see through the bullshit and treat the cultist like shit. The cultists begin to see the outside world as hurtful and cruel, and are therein driven deeper into the subjugation of the cult. Been looking into this for when I get my Time religion going.
