someone on reddit mentioned this "As we seen in every ratings post, there are always those guys who whine about armchair quarterbacks and people who cite Demarco saying everything is fine. But according to one of his latest answers, OP was NEVER at the viewership standards the network wanted. Just something to think about. Demarco's word on show performance is clearly not truthful. So when someone is brining up poor show performance, don't be so quick to point at Demarco and say he said everything was ok. Because he said everything was ok with One Piece, and it certainly was not. And now we are here." honestly I'm a little scared for toonami because the last time one piece vanished...the block died a couple months later

kinda hard to grow attached to characters if they keep getting killed off after a few episodes and then we start anew with another Jojo

was naruto really doing that much better ratings wise? while one piece got promoted and some decent love from the toonami crew they didn't do so much for naruto.....wouldn't be surprised if they didn't give a crap about it so i can't really see that changing anytime soon especially with naruto taking one piece's spot

many thought one piece would be on toonami forever(or until it died)...funny how things turn out

i bet most people tuning in wondered what the fuck caused one piece to vanish?.... the send off they did made it seem like one piece's chances of returning are 0% it's like it's dead and one piece is basically dead in the mainstream now

Naruto is a terrible reward for staying up through the whole toonami block...(GITS You Can Take Or Leave as a rerun that's been on there before)

but really the more we think about this....even my mom agrees the fuck kind of ratings were they expecting at 1:30 AM?! few shows can come up with even decent ratings at that time so the more time goes on the more the ratings excuse seems a bit too weak...(Plus since a lot of people DVR their shows i think Nielsen Ratings are far too outdated in this new digital age)

Demarco seemed a little annoyed by this whole ordeal as him and several crew mates are One Piece fans this happened all because adult swim finally got sick of one piece's ratings and put their foot down no other explanation

just seems like the adult swim higher ups are assholes if they are just gonna storm in on the toonami crew and yell at them about this(which i bet is what happened)

how many people do ya think will stay up late to watch Naruto being the last toonami premiere as opposed to it being one piece?

though it's pretty damn hard to accurately display a manga's story arcs in just 2 episodes don't believe that would ever be possible with Ennies Lobby or Thriller Bark

i feel sad for the toonami crew having to drop this....it'll never be the same

you can stream the english dub of one piece so it wouldn't be that different

feels like it's been forever since AOT was regularly discussed online

problem with that theory is most people speculate one piece returning in a couple years but nobody has the patience for that....and even af it returns next year that's still too long to expect fans to hold out instead of streaming the series

yeah i hear ya ben.....Just makes me wish the manga volumes were easier to get ahold of in person around where i live.... but hey We'll just see how toonami does without A Iconic Status Symbol like One Piece on the block....One Piece will be around but will toonami?

I'm just sad about this because to me One Piece was my reward for staying up so long on saturday night Naruto isn't as good of a reward to me so it just encourages me to go to sleep early... this also hurts a lot because One Piece can never catch a break on american television and it seems like unless your DBZ You Won't be Popular on TV(there are some rare exceptions but they are pretty damn rare)

but i guess they can't due to costs....and sadly at this point you gotta ask yourself "what does toonami offer you that you can't get anywhere elser?" moves like removing one piece might as well say "Hey You Like this show? then go stream it online" and by that point they've already quit watching toonami and have subbed it out for viewing animes online nobody's gonna want to watch toonami if they start cutting out your favorite shows and replace them with Edgy Stuff or stuff that was relevant a couple years ago

this is more depressing now knowing one piece's toonami fate...
