i suppose if its not your thing, then its just not your thing and thats just fine. everyone has a different idea of a good time. i'm sure i will still have a ton of fun. the parties they throw, no matter what kind, are always a good time. a bunch of art and small business people who frequently have to do this kind of thing for work or installations, its usually 10/10 for location, decor, booze, and snacks. i'm just a little meh about this particular theme. i liked the super hero party for my ex brother in laws 40th. now that was a fun time for costumes and props!

What would you do for a non era theme?

are weird especially when you choose an era that everyone or most in attendance have already lived through. you don't really look or feel like you are dressing up. you just look like you are either a hipster or a stubborn old person who never evolved. my sister chose a 90's theme for her 40th. it was way too easy to simply recreate my style from the 90's and i just look/feel normal and comfortable with the exception of the awful ill fitting pants that come up too high. more than half of the music that will be played is new enough that it still gets some amount of regular rotation by dj's and the radio. it just seems weird if i had a themed birthday party it would be way different. something wacky. what would you do?

yeah, i've tried all sorts of that kind of thing. even just eastern religions and what not on occasions. its a challenge usually. they really want to dig in and compare. its like a sales game. "why do you like android, let me tell you why choosing apple is a better fit for you." seriously better off telling them you're not interested and politely excuse yourself away. we have a picture window front door tho, so my brother takes the approach of just looking through it, shaking his head no, shrugging, and waving goodbye as he walks away.

the only weddings that suck are weddings that don't have buffet style food and have cash bars. otherwise, game on! and i'm gonna embarrassingly dance with everyone in my drunken stupor. but yeah, your friends are dumb. if you didn't get an invite and aren't going, how the hell are they gonna go and feel all singled out? now the only time i've been annoyed about things like this is when stupid things like, i'm not inviting you to the wedding but i am inviting you to the bridal shower type shit pops up. so i can't be invited to the actual celebration, but come bring me gift for brunch with these other people that are invited to the wedding. thats a little... eh.... wut? you'd be surprised how often this happens to females.
