Welp, seeing how barely anybody replies to this thread before showtime - especially Elfie, who dropped the show just because he automatically assumed the Asta/Noelle/Mimosa love triangle was gonna be way more front-and-center than it actually wound up being - I might as well take this opportunity to make an announcement I've been sitting on that's tangentially related to Black Clover. As some of you may be aware, I like to write in my spare time. I'm particularly fond of creating my own ideas for anime and putting them down on digital paper for online posting with the expectation of receiving feedback. Despite having posted one such idea - my first completed one overall, in fact - this past fall, it hasn't gotten the reception that I wanted, even after bringing it up in conversation every now and again. It's probably the fact that they're written as PDF uploads with specific formatting criteria that Uneven Edge wouldn't do justice that led to its avoidance, if not the strangeness of reading something as if one were to automatically view it as an anime. Thus, I've decided to make my personal take on what an anime by moi should be and make it more accessible. Starting July 6, Kinky Kunoichi will see appearance on the popular fanwork archival site Archive of Our Own. Episodes will be uploaded on a weekly basis, with two episodes per week for six weeks, without any of the music notations, Japanese-language staff and cast listings, and next episode previews that make it look like a light novel begging for an adaptation. But for those curious, I will upload a "Supplemental Material" chapter the week following the final release, for those who don't want to download the PDFs and see it alongside the readings that way. A posting of the episode 1 cold open will also show up on DeviantArt a week before the posting begins, so you're free to show your support that way. By the way, the aforementioned tangential relation to BC is that I imagined Kunoichi also being animated by Pierrot and having stolen enough animators to not make it look like a complete trash heap. Also, Asta probably needs a jam gag, what with his tendency to use his outdoor voice all the time.

Pretty sure the alternate version is part 4-exclusive, due to it premiering in Italy before Japan and TMS being insistent that the two versions are different. I'll say it again; just because papik's soundtrack is inferior to Yuji Ohno's, it doesn't mean that it's unenjoyable shit.

She's definitely Angel's character proxy, and she isn't even a redhead! As for the other new people, Yoarashi is pretty fun, I like how tired this Mera guy is of life in general (step up your tired game, Shinso), and I'm gonna start calling Shindo "Dekirito" because boyyyyyyy is he a beater. DRAGON BALL SUPER - They actually put up an advisory warning for the epileptics. Bravo, Demarco. ATTACK ON TITAN - REPLIES TO QUEEN: I don't really think Annie having Marco's ODM gear was a plot hole - she did apologize to his corpse back in season 1, after all - but I agree that the flashback was there to explain it. Erwin vs. the Beast Titan is definitely a better Jotaro vs. DIO allegory than, say, Levi vs. Shardis. I really hope Hanji managed to asspull her way out of getting nuked by Bert's transformation. THE PROMISED NEVERLAND - I love the visual direction for this series. Feels like an indie movie, and the soundtrack's only helping that interpretation. I also like the CGI backgrounds; yes, they look more at home in a video game from the early 00s, but not only do they allow the more ambitious shots to work better than in 2D, but it clues us in early on that there's something off about the orphanage of love. SWORD ART ONLINE: ALICIZATION - Okay, Alice deciding to go through with her half-blindness was pretty kickass, as far as that sort of thing in SAO goes. "Miss Pontefex, are you trying to seduce me?" From the looks of her nudity, yes she is. JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE: DIAMOND IS UNBREAKABLE - I was not expecting them to bleep out "I got a boner". Rohan's parting words about Kira's fate are kinda ruined when you realize it's Vic saying them. At least he got his comeuppance, even though Hayato will never know he did. All in all, part 4 is best part, would watch again in a heartbeat, 11/10. HUNTER x HUNTER - Wait, how'd Gon know Kite got reincarnated as an ant loli? I assume someone told him. Just fuck off already, Illumi, Hisoka did it and so should you. BLACK CLOVER - My DVR actually forgot to record this - some people just have all the luck, amirite? - so I had to catch it elsewhere. I actually kinda love Bondage Gear Hisoka JYB, he's definitely got one of the better first impressions of any character in this show, rainbow stinkbugs up Asta's nose aside. Between him making fun of Finral's hair with the others and going all human joy buzzer on Klaus, this episode is the most two-dimensional Luck's been in forever. That "cool mouth-cover thingy" is called an OTN mask, Asta, you want me to call up some friends of mine to put you through a crash course? Virgin Street Punk Dandy vs. Delicious Brown Bulldyke Seraphim is my new favorite rivalry. BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS - These next two, I watched late to avoid whiplash. It was alright, as far as fishing filler went. NARUTO SHIPPUDEN - You know, for having two of the three namesakes of the obligatory so bad it's good episode ranking, neither the 600 billion paper bombs exploding nor the "rainbow bridge" compared to the frog costumes when it came to awkwardness in the face of drama. Still, I'm gonna miss Konan; she's proof that kunoichi and eyeshadow really do work together. I'm just not feeling Madara's new mask, too white and all-encompassing.

It fuckin' better.

The first I can do, no problem. The latter... eh, I'm about half-way there on that front.

1. I had a feeling you'd despise the fat clown dude, especially when they framed the scene to have an inadvertent close-up of his crotch. 2. To be fair, Noelle only got that personality because her siblings were emotionally abusive fuckbuckets. 3. I have faith he'll eventually give up on the woman herself, but as with most fetishes, he's never giving up on that outfit. MY HERO ACADEMIA - YESSSSSSS MORE MIDNIGHT. I'm not sure whether Hatsume's still fun or if she's starting to wear thin on me. And that's how Deku learned how to kick. DRAGON BALL SUPER - Freezus Iced, the frames per second rate this episode was wildly inconsistent. ATTACK ON TITAN - I love those little isometric pictographs they have for these strategy moments. I have a feeling their attack on Reiner is going to ultimately backfire somehow, even after they nailed it. THE PROMISED NEVERLAND - Krone's death was way too kino to be horrifying, like End of Evangelion before it. Now Isabella breaking Emma's leg? That's where the real horror is. SWORD ART ONLINE: ALICIZATION - "Slashing the future" is the new "predicting the predicitions". In spite of that, Eugeo vs. Hol Horse was pretty fun, at least until the clown man nobody likes showed up and completely ruined the mood. It's really telling that when it cut from him to Kirito and Alice, I remarked, "Finally, likeable characters." Then again, it's me, so my opinions on SAO aren't worth shit. JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE: DIAMOND IS UNBREAKABLE - I recently watched some videos of Jotaro vs. DIO that switched back and forth between English and Japanese, and now that I have that refresher, it's interesting to see how Stardust Crusaders' DBZ-style final battle that was all about who could push their limits further until the other one was dead perfectly contrasts Diamond is Unbreakable's reliance on strategy and technique in its final battle. (I, for one, loved Josuke tricking Kira into committing remote patricide. ) Like I said, you should've checked Okuyasu's pulse before assuming he was dead. BLACK CLOVER - The Virgin Deku figures out solutions to insurmountable problems by waiting for others to give him the Eureka moment he needs, while the Chad Asta thinks it through to the best of his ability and finds the solution that way. The manga did the hot springs fanservice better; still no nipples, but much less censorship steam. BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS - Huh, less screaming than I expected. That's only natural, we can't have Spike Spencer blowing out his vocal chords again, especially with Eva getting a Netflix redub he got shut out of despite being in the right region for it. Also, are post-credits sequences normally supposed to come after the licensor vanity plate? NARUTO SHIPPUDEN - Half the episode was flashbacks, the chief director personally handled the episode... yep, this is pure Naruto right here. And we're only one week away from the first of the three episodes responsible for the infamous "6 Billion Armadillo Penis Rainbow" episode ranking. (Don't ask.) HUNTER x HUNTER - Holy fuck, Illumi is completely batshit. Easily the worst Zoldyck, even taking Cylon Mom and the fat kid into consideration. Oh well, at least Gon's back to normal and about to meet his deadbeat dad for the first time. In a way, I'm glad Vic didn't play Pariston; not because I want a certain Vic-hater to stop speaking to me like they hate me (again, I really have to get over that), but because Vic isn't nearly the speed chess master that Pariston is.
