MY HERO ACADEMIA COMING TO TOONAMI ON MAY 5TH
J.M. Matthews replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Yeah, but that kind of discussion hardly feels all that controversial in the fanbase. DBZ was never that racy of a show, but it had enough maturity and innocence it passed as both a kids show and a serious minded adult action cartoon. Probably had to be Bulma and the appeal of the design work....The list goes on, Kenshin started off a kids show. Gundam was put on TV pretty much just to sell action figures. Need I even explain sailor moon I think some of the best adult action cartoons have started off branding as children's shows, but evolved, or at least early Toonami staples. -

Kind of like Dragonball Super and Z. I think it's not just about being an anime anymore. If DBZ and My Hero Academia set any standard, it was for online views, fun factor, and dynamics/color scheme of the animation. It's okay to have muted shows like Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell, but sometimes its fun to throw in something with primary colors all over the place. I remember when Gamepro wrote reviews of video games, Fun Factor was always an important element. Not all anime has to be shojo (Sailor Moon) or bleak worldview (Bleach, Durarara Psycho-Pass). I don't watch anime to be reminded of the troubles in my life. I go to anime to escape them. -

That too. The stream audience was fairly large, but it did so without the William Street stamp of approval. blessing, whatnot, for a long time. -

I think Midoriya and Bakugo and All Might will be just as fun on Toonami as they were on Funimationnow.com -

MY HERO ACADEMIA COMING TO TOONAMI ON MAY 5TH

I'm saying this because either the streaming rights died off some, Toonami inherited legal permission from Japanese studios/distributors to air it, or maybe they had some kind of epiphany they SHOULD air something amazing that's being watched, not just unlicensed nonstreamed material. Whichever one it is I'm happy to watch the first 2 seasons with Toonami branding. I'd rather watch a hyper watched anime that's appealing than something that doesn't get seen or streamed online that totally sucks ass (black clover.......cough. Is a cough even necessary here?? lol XD). Learn to share, FUNimation....hint, hint. -

Well, SOMEtimes Demarco is a false anime prophet/idol / idiot savant of TV programming riding Sean's cottails. Other times he's spot on, much like Jhonen is these days. They're kind of 70% right. The other 30% they're just a foolish comedian with a large following. I guess I'm saying there's less visible people in the industry who do the kinds of things those dudes do without making as much rowdy noise with a mobbish following. I prefer the quiet ones personally. -

But anyway, I'm just happy about the excitement people feel about FLCL new. No reason to split hairs about the viewership numbers already. Jeez. You can't go wrong commisioning talents like Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and Production I.G.! They have produced many a miracle in the anime industry.

200K + 800K is still a million people overall, which is a lot. That's still pretty big by traditional standards. Also, that trailer's only been around for less than a week. Give it time. A lot of internet videos only get higher ratings over time. I'd say it's popular enough that I'm pretty sure enough fans will watch it, so they can greenlight more anime like it, which is good, because I'd like to see Toonami produce more co-productions. But that only gets to happen if people watch the anime they help make.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed 17-19 Last Exile FAM ep. 2 On a good day, I can get 3 to 4 episodes watched.
-
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed 16, watching saved WMV file on my portable hard drive peripheral device in bed. Some anime are just easier to watch on your computer from DVDs ripped a long time ago.

A new classic! I'm glad the trailer went viral...

Story Writers: Moments You're Proud Of
J.M. Matthews replied to Bouvre's topic in UEMB Member Share-Space
Thanks Bouvre. I don't know if it's effortless, I'd say it's more like the compulsion to work on my writing is just constantly there. I have what is known as hypergraphia, which means you are driven by an overwhelming compulsion to write. -
I'm excited about 4 things this year FLCL: Progressive / Alternative My Hero Academia Season 3 One Punch Man Season 2 More episodes of The X-Files. I know X-Files isn't anime, but it's a good long running Fox show that was there before most anime was... It's getting windy outside. Excitement is in the air!

Season 3 is lookin' HYPE as F***! Two words: Stain's Disciples. That element of the story wasn't really resolved at the end of Season 2, there are some unresolved plot elements there.

Oh, I know, I'm not debating that some of them came from outside Paris or France, but Picasso lived in France for a long time. Merton was born there. They're all associated with France on some level, Van Gogh had a ton of influence on Parisian art, a lot of his art ended up in the Louvre, the most prestigious French Museum. I guess I'm including influence, not just citizenship. Also, Delacroix, Hugo, Jules Verne, and Sartre were still pretty diehard French I mean, you could say Bill Watterson, and Frank Miller are American, but Calvin and Hobbes and Miller have had an enormous influence on Bandes Dessinee books in the last 10 years or so. After they started achieving popularity in the publishing industry there. France is a lot less exclusionary than Japan in terms of what it considers to be part of its culture, even though France has a heavy influence on Japan. Unlike Japan, where citizenship predates influence, France adapts a lot of non-French artists into its culture.
