thats what i mean. they way i grew up, everything north of syracuse is "Upstate." now that i live here full time, i hear people refer to them as two different things.
the area known as the North Country or just Northern New York, which is a much smaller geographical area,, gets the name upstate but the locals see it
different. its because its famous for other reasons, Bass Master bass tournament is here once a year, we are famous for the high Amish population, the
Thousand Islands & St Lawrence Seaway are here, easy access to Canada, so its busy here just because of those. Eisenhower Lock is here. Indian Reservations
and Casinos.
