i want to say 8 was when the girl child found out about santa, from an asshole kid. she asked me about it. i told her the actual story of st. nicholas, and that i still believed in santa, although he doesn't come around anymore like he used to, and asked parents to help pick up the slack. that seemed to go pretty well, until the next year. she told me. 'i don't think there's a santa with a sleigh and reindeer anymore, but i would still like to believe in 'christmas magic' for as long as i can **weep** it was the same year i tried to keep the tooth fairy going, because she came at me with that. so...she lost about 3 teeth that year, and i wrote her 3 letters, from 'ella, the tooth fairy' telling her the usual~listen to your parents, do good in school, be the best you. but the last letter i told her 'i have to go away now, because the tooth fairy is onlly for your baby teeth, but never forget me' and that was cool. it was a couple years later that the girl was like 'i know it was you that wrote those letters, but it's ok, because parents are jerks, and you weren't a jerk about it' so....iono...keep the magic alive as long as possible.
